Sweet....so practical difference between classic and premium is lease block numbers....not sure if recommended routes is something I'd follow. I'd be interested in others thoughts....

Excellent! It is about time. I had the same question in my mind between classic and premium so interested in other thoughts as well.

Good lord! They broke the maps up into more pieces so customers have to buy 5 maps for the area they fish. It is yet another example of Garmins greediness and continued screwing of the customer.

Glad to see this. Are these similar maps as the CMOR? I will be purchasing. And opposite of Keith, I have always had incredible customer service from Garmin and think they are one of the best out there hands down.

It isn’t about their customer service. It is about them nickel and diming customers and creating a closed platform that forces you to buy their maps and lack of 3rd party support.

I am thinking they closed off 3rd party maps to get ready for this release. To spike sales from people needing to get back to better mapping like they had before garmin cut out 3rd party maps.

Most anyone you buy mapping with large amount of detail has to break up areas like this, only so much info you can load into your unit or store.

As for the lease blocks, Garmin already has the lease blocks loaded into there mapping on my pair of 840XS in the base map.

Nothing really wrong with Garmin. But they lost me five years ago when I discovered standard mappiing and Garmin wouldn't play in that sand box. Not going back. Simrad is better anyway.

Se the big difference between premium and professional is oyster lease info? Can anyone think of a reason to have this?

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/664371

The Classic E-Card contains high resolution aerial imagery data only that replaces the base map of your GPS. Features from the GPS will overlay along with the mapping, allowing for these features to work alongside the mapping. These features include the navigational aids, tides & currents, and waypoints, routes & trails.

The Premium E-Card will offer added content along with the high resolution aerial imagery data. The added features include the offshore field blocks, Wildlife Management Area's, and trusted routes through the marsh. The offshore field blocks will outline each block along with the block identification number. The Wildlife Management Area's will be outlined in green as well as the names of each area. The trusted routes are yellow lines that overlay on the mapping offering a highway system created by local Marina owners and fishing guides to help navigate through the difficult areas of the marsh. The yellow lines include red dots that if selected will identify the trusted route and offer a description of where to and from the route will take you. These routes are beneficial for the avid fisherman trying to find new ways to navigate around the marsh.

The Professional E-Card has the professional's in mind. Along with the high resolution aerial imagery offered in the Classic E-Card, you will receive all the added content of the Premium E-Card, such as, the offshore field blocks, the Wildlife Management Area's, and the trusted routes through the marsh. However, what makes this E-Card so professional is the outlined oyster leases and State seed grounds. The oyster leases are outlined in white and will identify the lease the number, as well as, who the lease belongs to. The State seed grounds are outlined in purple. To learn more about the Public Grounds and the Private Leases, check out the Louisiana's Wildlife and Fisheries page here.

I don’t feel I need the oyster lease info. White pvc poles usually show the leases anyway. It says nothing about the offshore contours that the map pics show.
