Default Snook fishing in Estero FL

Hey everyone! I am planning on going to the estero river or the estero bay to fish. I want to catch a snook in the worst way. What would be the best lure or bait to catch them? I heard I can catch them near the mangroves. I also heard the sebile magic swimmer lure was great for snook. Any recommendations? Thank you!

Ive never fished estero bay but I've fished Charlotte harbor and ten thousand islands, live shrimp on a jig head thrown up in some mangroves with deep moving water has always been the number one for me. When you get there go to one of the bait shops and ask them what to do.

Default Estero

I fished the bay, passes, and beaches over there over I guess a dozen trips. It really depends on when you go and what size fish you’re trying to target but just about anytime of year you can beat up the mangroves with white matrix shade or white weightless weedless baits like flukes. The above shrimp technique will work too. Last trip was very tough. We fished hard for three days and couldn’t get one to the boat. It was during the okachobee overflow and the water was chocolate. Even out at the gulf south of the Everglades it was bad. Normally we catch 30-50 fishing hard all day between two guys out there and we caught zero.
Bring lots of whatever you’re wanting to throw under the mangroves. If you’re not losing baits your not getting in there far enough. Uni to uni a 2’ leader of flouro
Good luck
