Why would you gaff Aj's when they are closed?

the guy gaffed him up there by accident. he lived by the way. went straight back down. the little boy fought him for 40 minutes. we wanted to bring him in the boat so he could get his picture made with him. dont tar and feather me just yet.

You can't lift an AJ for a pic without using a Gaff?

This is unreal. Gaffing a fish when the season is closed is poaching. That fish may of swam away, but it is crab bait now.

He isn't an asshole. You posted a picture (more than one) of you gaffing an out of season fish. Doesn't matter that it swam off, it will die soon after. Take down the offending pictures. I caught four big AJs two weeks ago. I made sure everyone knew they were out of season and to release them quickly. You failed as the boat owner to let them know not to gaff it.

That was a really good article. I have had a couple moments like that with my daughters while squirrel hunting or fishing.

OP, not to bust your balls, but you should take down the Amberjack pics with a gaff in it. Your friend learned and moved on. It looks like the kids had a blast and that is important.

I was laying the sarcasm on pretty thick there.
