Default Pensacola Beach July

Looking to go to Pensacola in July for the blue angels 6th-9th. I've been looking on vrbo and can't seem to find anything to rent. I would like to have a condo or house with a boat slip or somewhere to tie up and leave boat in water. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are very few options that will have a boat slip available with a condo or house. Some have moring areas but not that many. That's the busiest weekend on the beach and I would be surprised if there are many condos/houses avaliable for that weekend. Check out Portofino condos and other vacation rental companies.

Check the condos on Gulf Beach Highway just west of NAS Pensacola between NAS and Big Lagoon State Park. Most have docks and wouldn't be far by water to where the Blues perform in July.

New World Landing in Downtown Pensacola has rooms.
It is about two blocks from Palafox Marina, where you could rent a wet slip.

Here is the hotel:

Here is the marina:

I am amazed they have rooms available

Tom,
That's actually a great suggestion that most visitors would never consider. Smack downtown within walking of a ton of great restaurants, marina across the street, no crazy beach traffic to deal with.

Yes, this avenue is great way to visit Pensacola by boat, with a hotel room, and it is a safe and secure marina with a nice hotel, and lots to do.

Where would be a good place to watch this on a boat?

Look at Orange Beach AL. It's a 45-min ride by boat to the airshow.

For a good place to watch, if offshore you have to be out a ways - can't remember if it's 1 mile or 2. For inshore, we go anchor with all the other boats just East of the Pensacola Beach Bridge.

For a great place to see it by boat, the Gulf of Mexico, if the water is calm. The Law Enforcement Boats will keep you where you need to be anchored. It is a long day to anchor in the GOM. But you will have an unobstructed view of the center line.

Hundreds of boats go to the "Sound Side" near the Boardwalk. However, they have an obstructed view. When I go by boat, we go to the sound side area. And the walk across to the front row on the beach for the Blues. My wife loves front row, watching them fly over the GOM, and from the sound side anchored, you just can not see this part of the show.

Others also anchor in Little Sabine Bay, but again, the show view is obstructed by condos.

I have never anchored in the GOM to watch it.

This pics will give you an idea.
Friday is always a better day to go verses Saturday.

This first pic is where we walk to when we go by boat, to get front row seating on the sand

IN 2015, the altered flight plan brought one plane real close to the beach causing umbrellas and tents to fly.

This normally does not happen, but sure was cool when it did.

Thanks for the detailed response.

I think I will try by boat. I've never been by land or by sea. My boat wouldn't do well on the gulf side so I'll try the bay side.

Default Rent my place? (The cash will support my boating habit!)

I bought a condo at the very end of Fort Pickens (last buildings before the long stretch of sand and the Fort itself) last year, and I've just put it into the rental market. PM me if you want the link. Supposedly I can assign discount codes and whatnot, although I haven't figured that out yet. I'd be honored to offer a THT deal ... if you haven't found a place and mine is available, shoot me a PM.

As far as the boat, there is no dock; I anchor on the soundside. The boat floats just a stone's throw from the patio (picture). I'll install a mooring ball next month, as soon as I figure out what the regulations are to put one in. (If anybody knows the rules for putting a mooring ball into Santa Rosa Sound, PM me so I don't have to create a new thread?)

Rentals for that week are generally Saturday to Saturday. Hotels do 3 night minimums.

I've done this trip a number of times, but we always stay with family off the beach. We generally launch near Pensacola YC to avoid beach traffic, though there is a boat launch at the west end of Gulf Breeze that makes for a short run. We always anchor up in the sound... get there early to claim your patch. And try to get some friends to anchor around you as well, that way you have a nice bubble. Would be fun to do a THT raft up. I will be there for sure, though we may go on one of the early practice days to avoid the big crowds.

Another option would be to watch the practice, which will be every day that week, at the beach, and then fish on the day of the show.
I stayed at the beach front Hampton a few years ago on business and my wife got to watch the practice run at least once a day, every day

You're a little late in the game to find any place on the beach. You can keep checking as people cancel or get with Sullivan504 and rent his condo. It's real close to Little Sabine or Quietwater. As stated above if you go by boat, get there early, like 10-11am to secure a good spot. Be safe, there's thousands of boats in the water and lots of alcohol being consumed. Marine police are everywhere but it's still a cluster. Understand that on Blue Angel Saturday you will not be able to leave or get on the beach by car until late in the evening. Plan ahead and have fun!

Thanks for all of the info. I found a place in Lafitte Cove. How far is that from Little Sabine by boat?
