Thumbs down poor service at serigne's in Delacroix

Fished Delacroix Saturday with 3 boats and 6 friends. This is a trip we do quite often. Our boat ended up with about 15 keepers and many, many short trout. Good fun, good friends........

We launched at Sweetwater, a great bunch of guys. They help you launch and recover your boat and always have good advice about where they are biting. Only problem today was that they were out of live shrimp. No biggie, I usually fish with artificial anyway. I had paid for my launch already but I thought I might check down the street at Serigne's for some live bait. We had a couple of kids with us and live bait usually guarantees some tight lines. I did not know about the SHRIMP NAZI at Serigne's. I did not know her requirement to launch your boat at their ramp in order to purchase shrimp. She was rude and all but threw me out of her store!!! She could have explained. I wasn't trying to trick her into selling me shrimp. No problem, I'll take my money and my 6 friends money elsewhere along with anyone else that reads this.
The Pen is mightier than the sword, right??? So take your money to Sweetwater!!!
STAY AWAY FROM SERIGNE'S!!!!

I have heard quite a bit bad mouthing going on about Serignes' and the Shrimp Nazi wench.
I no longer fish the island so can't vouch firsthand as to her attitude, but there are a lot of comments on louisianasportsman.com regarding her lack of courtesy towards those who don't use their launch.

I would rather not have live shrimp then spend any money with that place. A friend of mine had launched at sweetwater and when he got down the road after fishing he noticed he had a flat tire. He pulled into her parking lot and she came unglued.

Ill start out by saying the folks at Serignes are good friends of mine. Can Ms. Joan be a little harsh about who she sells shrimp to and who she does not sell shrimp to? Sure, and she has every right to be and so would I if someone spent their money elsewhere and only came to do business with me because their first choice didn't have what they needed. Think about it like this, why should they sell their shrimp to someone who launched somewhere else, and take a chance of not having bait for their loyal customers??? Would you? I wouldn't! If you wanna buy their shrimp, use their services, end of story. I spend a lot of time at their place of business helping them with whatever they need, or just hangin out BS'n and they are the type of folks who would do anything to help someone in need. During the week I live 10 minutes from their business and I often launch and or fish from their dock for catfish with my little boy, and they spoil him like he is their own grandchild. My freezer is also full of fresh seafood due to them, sounds just like awful people huh???????

I won't comment on the degree of diplomacy she may or may not have exercised, but I do understand reserving the live shrimp for their launch customers.

I understand why they need to reserve shrimp for customers, but why be irate about it? I feel blessed to have my boat in Shell Beach because the Campo family is awesome. There have been a few times that I have had to go to Breton Sound Marina to get bait when Campo's is sold out. They simply asked if I had a launch when I pay. They didn't get upset that I said no. I have also pulled into BSM when I needed some 2 stroke oil in a pinch and once when I got towed there. They were incredibly nice and understanding, and they bent over backwards to help me get on my way. I will never forget that and I am happy to recommend BSM to others. Between word of mouth and the internet, you have to have some crazy in you to treat people like trash. It may be that strain of crazy that she passed on to her child molesting children that are in prison.

I have a lot of friends who are really nice to me and who are mean as hell and rude to others.

It's her launch and her rules I get that, but maybe if she explained what was going on then Op wouldn't have an axe to grind and now telling everyone about his negative experience. She could have easily turned Op into a loyal customer, but she burned that bridge.

Is the loyal customer sentiment in that area so strong that she wouldn't accept a launch fee in exchange for selling shrimp to the op? I'm trying to understand if the issue is strictly the launch fee or ensuring she had shrimp on hand for regular customers. Clearly, she doesn't believe she needs new customers.

Is it just me, don't you think that customer service is what this is suppose to be about? I WOULD NEVER step foot in a establishment that treats potential customers this way! End Of Conversation!

Exactly. Which is the reason Sweetwater get's so much praise.
One would think that a sale is a sale, no matter who made the purchase. Evidently they are either jealous or afraid of competition and are going about regaining business the wrong way.

That's what I don't understand. GCC says she has the right to sell to people who launch there and I understand that. But the guy offered to pay her the launch fee to be able to buy the shrimp? How is that any different than launching there? Did she want him to go load his boat at Sweetwater and then come relaunch at her place?

This lady sounds crazy. why not buy extra shrimp and sell it to everyone? who gives a F if they launch there or not. pull the stick from your ass, double your sales by selling bait to everyone, and move on. I just dont get some people

Get out of here with your logic.

It's the same thing you see with car dealers and boat dealers. "If they didn't buy the motor from me, I am not going to service it for them." You should still service those vehicles/boats that were bougth from another dealer, albeit not give them 1st priority, but give them excellent service and try and make them your customer.

I'm glad to see this post generated such a response. That is exactly what I wanted to accomplish. People talk, either about an overwhelming good experience or overwhelmingly bad experience. And yes, with the ability of the Internet, that word reaches many people. I offered to pay a launch fee as well. A BIG SIGN explaining her requirements would have negated the need for this........ But now I'm pissed and I'm gonna tell anyone who will listen. Her behavior is inexcusable. My friends that were with me had a few live shrimp and my boat actually caught more on plastic under a cork! She can keep her damn shrimp. Sweetwater will keep my business and everyone I bring down to Delacroix's business. ( I fish a lot and spend lots of money!!)

Talking Delacroix Sunday

Just in case anyone from Seringe's reads this:
My buddies and I went to Delacroix on Sunday and spent another $100 with Seeetwater Marina. We also inquired about an overnight rental. We are planning a long weekend of fishing and spending money.
Anyway, we had a great day on the water. We caught a ton of trout. We ended up with a little over 40 keepers but caught 4:1 school trout that we released. All day action!
