Default Fourchon Inshore fishing

Buying a camp at Point Fourchon and wanted to introduce myself. If anyone can give me some pointers about the inshore fishing in a bayboat or air boat it would greatly be appreciated.

Congrats on the new camp. Wish I could afford one there. I sure hope in 10 years or so I'm looking for one in that area.

You talking inshore during the summer or winter? I can't help much for summer as I usually fish nearshore/offshore during summer. However during the winter I'd travel up to road to Golden Meadow and fish the areas around Catfish Lake and Bully Camp (Sulfer Mine). Usually catch school trout in the lakes and reds, drum and sheephead in the deeper canals.

Gmack pretty much nailed it. The colder it gets, the further inshore you need to go. Except you will find plenty of trout in those canals too when it gets really cold.

Right now we've been catching bull reds around Leeville in the deeper canals for fun but catching limits of smaller reds for the freezer all around canals in Golden Meadow. The school trout are small now but will get better as winter approaches.

That's the beauty of it all, year round fishing! Enjoy the new camp, it's a great location!

we used to keep out houseboat in Fourchon marina but now fish out of Bridge Side. I have a few friends that their families had/have camps in Pointe Fourchon. You are definitely going to like it there.

KDM, I have a camp in the water on GI and happy to share some info. PM me when you head that way. I am in Queen Bess Bay, middle of the Island, next to the WLF station. Run a YF 24 / 300 Yam. When I am not fishing the GI area, I day trip it from Houston to Sabine.

Skeeter, I will send you a PM when I head back down. I've got a 42 yf and a bayboat. Looking at an air boat for the inshore marsh fishing. Would love to learn the area

Sounds good. Lots of shallow marsh that I fish in my 24. With an airboat, even more can be accessed. Btw, some areas are leased to private clubs, so know that as you explore the area.

On the coldest day in winters I have caught more trout fishing the canels inside Point Fouchon. You don't even need to start the outboard.
Fish the main canal behind Morans.
I have a camp on Grand Isle, give me a call one winter day and I will show you.

With a 42YF you won't have any trouble making new friends

It's looking awesome. I'm about to update the build thread. This guy builds an incredible cat. Very high quality and very well finished. I'm starting to get very excited as I see it coming together.

In!

I work in that area. Shoot me a PM when you are going to be down there and I'll stop by and say hello. I have fished the area by kayak and have done very well, but I haven't run an outboard there. You'll need someone to show you around.

I work just down the way, always liked the look of those camps. If you ever want photos of your boat underway, shoot me a pm and I am sure we can figure something out.
