Boat Mississippi is the official boating safety course of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (DWFP) and the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (DMR). Taking this safe boating course will allow you to get your Mississippi boating license online. http://www.boat-ed.com/mississippi/

We need to know what type of boat (inshore-off shore/blue water, green water).

I usually recommend people that is in your position to hire a guide a couple of times and this will save you a ton of money and time.

Their are some highly qualified guides on this site also.

Are you wanting to fish inshore or offshore? I don't think Chaparral makes a offshore boat so if you are wanting to fish inshore I know little to nothing about inshore sorry. My normal trip puts me about 60+miles offshore.

Tip #1 When you see guys wade fishing and catching fish please resist the strong urge to motor up to them and fish that same area from the boat. Not good for all parties involved. Tip# 2 Be extremely careful if you do decide to go south of the islands, not knocking your ride at all but the MS sound can get real nasty real quick. Plan your trips around the weather and be ready to head in at the first sight of a squall, especially this time of year. It sounds like you have alot to learn. Going out there and doing it is the best way to learn.
