Default German Charlies Freeport Texas

Members: I just purchased a Grady 28’2 sailfish. Greater range than previous boat. I trying to map out a fishing plan. Is the German Charlies area productive? Any advice is appreciated.

Yes, generally it is. On any relatively calm weekend day, just look for the boats. there's lots of structure just covered up with red snapper. Certain rocks seem to have triggers too. You can also troll or drift baits for kings. Before it gets too hot, sometimes catch AJs too. An occasional ling or mahi can be caught there as well. Consistent catches there are red snapper, triggers, and kings.

The only couple downsides are that it is crowded and any AJ's tend to be barely keepers.

For Texas everyone owes themselves a copy of Riks book.

The history of the German Charlies is more interesting than the fishing there.

Do you have a link for the book, or the title? I would love to read it, thanks!

Plenty of boat for German Charlie’s , quite a few bay boats fish it during the summer. The 32s even more so.

Freeport is loaded with Snapper!

I fished Friday and was disgusted with the amount of Jurassic Snapper in the Area. Stay on the Shipping Lane as you come out of Freeport and hit the 21's, 27's ,32's. They are Loaded with Snapper. Each one of these areas has small rocks and dips so work the area good. Drift it like we do Bay Fishing. If you have a buoy, drop it to mark for drifting to make it easier. These areas hold AJ's and periodically Ling. If you get to these areas and there are no Snapper there that means there are Huge Sharks in the Area.

And Congratulations on the Grady!

Gato: are you affiliated with the company? I sent an email to purchase the GPS card and to ask for a discount . I did purchase the book about a month ago and started working with it and a map to create a fishing plan. and to kind of know where I'm at in the gulf. Seems like most of the major areas in the book are on the maps.
Anyway Gato I was wondering if I can get a discount since I already purchased the book. The download and the book are being sold together for $350.00. I do not need another book just the GPS card download.

Its pretty easy to find. Just head out at the right heading and you'll know when you get there because there are usually at least 3-4 boats in the area at all times during peak season.
