Default Looking for Venice charter and airboat hog hunting recommendations.

Me and a few buddies are looking into a tuna and hog hunting trip in early February of 2022.

Ideally we would fish on a 42' Freeman.

We also want to try out airboat hog hunting.

Any recommendations for either would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Mexican Gulf hands down for the fishing trip.

Id look into a helicopter hog hunt, much more fun and trigger time in my opinion.

Got it.

Thank you.

The $2K a gun hunt is a little rich for my blood but Mexican Gulf looks like a good operation.

See if you can hook up with someone that runs dogs for hog hunting.

I may have gotten the shaft on the airboat thing but it was moving waaaaaay slower than I expected and had a hard time getting in range with the provided shotguns.

There's no one better than Capt. Blake with Tripletail charters. He runs a 38'(?) Empire Boatworks, it's extremely impressive and he's the real deal. He has a lot of connections and I bet could put you with someone for hogs too.

Thanks for all the info guys.

Should be an interesting trip.

Time to get a ride on a 42' Freeman and see if the hype is real, but looking at how many LA charter captains run them, I think I know the answer to that question.

I spent two days fishing there in April, seemed like 80% of the boats were some type of Cat!

I just started googling what is around Venice, and it does not look like there is much nearby.

Mexican Gulf Charters was not super helpful as they won't talk to you over the phone regarding booking- I get it, as I run a charter and hate answering dumb questions, but sometimes it is a lot more direct than endless emails.

Where is the best place to stay?

Mexican Gulf has some floating homes that look pretty decent, but it would be nice to have something to do at night or if we get weathered out.

Are there any happening towns that are not too far from Venice?

All I know about Louisiana is New Orleans and most of those memories are pretty fuzzy.

Thanks.

Nothing to do at night until NOLA unfortunately. There is a bar called the den. Don't go there......

Stay in a houseboat in the Venice marina. Eat at Venice marina restaurant or black velvet in buras. don’t go to any bars in venice except Venice marina. People go to Venice to fish period . If you want to go to the club go to New Orleans . Go fishing with Mexican gulf charters.

thank me later

Stay in one of the houseboats in the marina, eat at the marina, drink on the boat and in the marina.

If the weather gets sloppy just find an inshore charter or drive to New Orleans. Avoid other bars around Venice.

Good food and drinks at Venice Marina, I second Black Velvet Oyster bar if you want to make a short road trip.
