Default 488 Red Snapper Seized

https://www.lsonews.com/game-wardens...l-red-snapper/

Hope they seize their boat and hit them with heavy fines and no chance of carrying a hunting or fishing license for 10 years. With that said, I can't help but wonder how they are classifying this a recreational harvest. Usually when you see these egregious amounts of fish taken they are somehow tied to commercial fishing, just having a hard time believing this is recreational. Anyone have insight?

Here is a blast from the past that started the whole BS IFQ..

Kingpins of the Gulf make millions off red snapper harvest without ever going fishing

Yep that one is old. Think about this, I typically have 5 guys on board so 10 fish total limit when in season. Which of you round the numbers in that arrival thatís 49 trips. And the value is approx $190/trip.

Honestly Iíd pay that for my boys to be able to catch fish every trip, because lord knows the endangered ARS is easy to catch, and can at least make a trip when the Marlin, mahi, etc donít cooperate that day.

Point is the fish have more value for those who care about fishing and those guys donít care.....

I believe this was an illegal commercial operation organized by a restaurant owner-the guys caught were transporting fish from the boat that caught them to shore

This is where I see the failure in all of this. Hit them where it hurts, no fishing license, no 6 pack, no hunting for 5-10 years for egregious violations. Problem is they give these guys a slap on the wrist and it's just the cost of doing business for them. Pay a few fines and they're back out stealing from everyone else in no time. Scumbags.
