What’s it really going to look like (waves) tomorrow
 

Anyone go out today or have a “feel” etc about what it’s going to be like tomorrow? The forecast just dropped from 2-4 to 2-3 and trending in the right direction, but forecast have been terrible this year. I have been beat to death in 1-2 foot seas that ended up being 3-4 or worse. Between cold fronts so I have no clue if it would be worth it to try to sneak out early morning or what. Bouys that are working are showing 2 foot right now winds under 15.

I offered to take some kids, ( I guess young adult now as navy airman) out tomorrow that have never been snapper fishing, I am in a 23, I just don’t want to be miserable. Any input appreciated

I've been wanting to go but decided against it, hopefully everyone else stayed home too so we can have a few more weekends and maybe get some better weather.

It was terrible but fish were nuts
 

Ok, I went. We could go a whopping 10 knots an hour most of the trip, burned a ton of gas as it was actually a solid 3-5 seas with 6 foot rollers and 20 knot plus gust that blew the tops off. (Is that another idiot in a boat over there, no it’s just a big top blowing off that 6 footer, hard to see with all the saltwater in my eyes) To make it more fun we go completely soaked and my brand new bilge system with back up failed, and I had one simple rule, do not let your line get sucked up in the prop, I only let two if my green horned fish at a time to accomplish this trick. Well between barfing episodes, 80 pound braid right into the prop. Way too rough to snorkel it out so we limped back in. Fortunately, it barely mattered as you could only go 10 knots anyway. Couldn’t even make it to my spot so just dropped on first fish I could find.

On the positive side, my guys were troopers, and first drop two lines and two keepers. Drop, fish, barf, repeat. We got our fish in an hour or so, and we back in by 2. (My guys were sick as dogs had had never been offshore snapper fishing, and experienced fisherman would have loaded up every pass.) By the time we got in, they were fine. They got nice pics for their social media and we awesome at cleaning my boat, so was a decent day. (Other than damn bilge pump)

In sum, fish are everywhere and hungry, if we get a good day go

Looked windy out there. What all kind of fish did yall catch?

Always rougher than the forecast for some reason.

We caught limit of snapper. one nice 6 pounder rest 16-18 inches, only about 3 throwbacks which were all at the end. Saw one shark few big turtles that’s it. Nothing else, no birds, no schools nada but you couldn’t see a humpback whale breaching in that mess.

Anybody going to try it this weekend? Saturday looks a little rough but Sunday might be better .
