Default Sabine 9/25/20--possible record dog snapper

The BAD: Due to back to back storms with both of them putting several feet of storm surge into Sabine lake and Marsh to our east. Water is green past 100miles out and will only get worse after the front moves thru and the winds push more water out of the marsh. Huge amounts of water hyacinth and cane offshore and will be worst due to north winds this week. Logs and trash mixed up in all the crap so it is miles after miles of having to dodge and look out for debris. Water temps are low, and will cool off even faster with front moving thru. No defined color changes, no weedlines, everything broken up and scattered. October is usually one my favorite months to fish, but this year it does not look good.

The GOOD: left the marina around 7ish Saturday morning to perfect conditions, as said above water is green to more green to greener. Stopped few placed on the way out looking for ling but not much wanted to come to the top of the water, clear thermocline on bottom machine even in shallow water. Fish were more aggressive further out, was not targeting AJ's but there were thick and troublesome. Hammered out some ling and mangos off the rigs then went to the grouper spots. Grouper were hitting good, but red snapper had invaded the deeper holes. After dragging a couple red snapper up from 300+ feet with there eyes popping out of there heads decided to make a move. Found some spots there were not covered up by red snapper and boxed a wide variety of fish. Late in the evening got into the dog snapper, and Greg got the Boss Dog. As always good trip with great friends !!

I like reading a good report like this. "Possible record" - did y'all weigh on certified scales? #?

Yes, one yesterday in Sabine 4way store then again today around 1pm on a different certified scale. It is over the Texas state record and IGFA world record by 3lbs+.
