Planning on pulling boat to Fourchon Thursday. NOAA showing 1-2 but wind finder showing 15+ mph winds west. What are you guys seeing?

This past weekend out of GI the windfinder and NOAA forecasts were calling for 15mph all week, with NOAA being 2-4' and windfinder being ~1.7'. When we woke up it was much better than expected. With a 25' boat we had a "rough and miserable" plan and a "wishful thinking" plan. Seems like that's what we've had to do the past several trips as the forecasts have been disappointing at the beginning of the week.

Hate to be the guy that says you never know unless you go. But you never know unless you go. As paul91 said, the forecast for last week and weekend was not very accurate. It happened to be a good wrong, as in good for fishing which rarely seems to happen. Usually its always the other way.

We are heading to the camp after work Friday. It's going to be a bumpy ride for sure. If we make it past the first 10 miles we are going to keep going.

We made the 23 mile run and got our snaps Saturday but today we spend about 20 mins looking for mangs before we got tired of bouncing all around the boat and came in.

Weatherman was spot on for us. Sloppy early Saturday but laid down late afternoon into the night with little to no wind Sunday.

Default Bumpy

We got beat up pretty good on the west side of Ship Shoal on Saturday. 45 miles of very steep and confused 2's with quite a few sets of what felt like 3's. At one point I was lucky to make 20-22mph and constant throttle work.

We also had some heavy currents to deal with. It took both engines in gear at all times just to stay near the make the drop. The current made fishing the middle of the water column near impossible with any accuracy. Dropping 10oz weight next to the rig would still end up 10 yards behind the boat by the time it hit bottom in 100'. We made our 10 snapper and tucked tail.

The ride back was much more enjoyable at 26-28mph without having to touch the throttles in a quarter following sea.

I have tabs on mine and my neighbor doesn't. He took a ride and is getting tabs for next year. They make a world of difference.
