Feds control amberjack regardless of what the state refs tell us can’t catch an amberjack in state waters.
feds call for a August 1 open.
ignorance of the law is no excuse.

The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission announced the 2020 recreational red snapper season will begin on Friday, May 22, in both state and federal waters. The season will run weekends only (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday including the Monday of Memorial Day and the Monday of Labor Day, July 4 falls on a Saturday and will be part of the season as designated) with a daily bag limit of two fish per person and a 16-inch total length minimum size limit.

So it took all this time and secrecy to say, “same as last year.”

Y’all need to push for tales and scales. It’s demonstrated that we catch far fewer snapper than the estimates in Mississippi, resulting in a longer season. It works.

If 7% was caught the first weekend then 50% was caught the next weekend! I saw 8 bay boats at 1 rig 20 miles out.

I was one of the crazies out opening weekend. Saw one other boat offshore in two days. Makes you scratch your head. I know we didn't catch 50,000lbs!
