To make matters worse, as soon as he sucked up the line, I killed the engines and raised them fully up when they were turned full lock which broke my steering sensor off for my Optimus steering. That caused it to go into limp mode and we had an engine down and. I steering drifting into the rig. Luckily after we narrowly missed the rig, I got the line out and found a couple zip ties which fixed the problem. We did wind up with 25 blackfin and 4 nice yellows for the day. Back to Tennessee now. And work...

I have never fished to the east past the 12 Mile Rigs. I have always fished South to SE out of SW Pass and that was 15-20 years ago. I am just getting back in the swing of fishing again. I am getting warmed up for what retirement may be like. I will be retiring from the Army later this year.

I used to be able to go to the Midnight Lumps, anchor up and catch YFT for as long as I wanted to (most of the time.) Everyone says not to bother going there now. Amazing how hotspots change over time.

So I really don't know the identity of those easterly floaters, semis, and drill rigs.

Do yourself a favor and get ripcharts..And the fishing has changed significantly from now to 20 years ago. Good luck and post a report do your homework and stay safe.
