Default Brooks Bridge Marina - Fort Walton Beach

Anybody know if this place is still open or has changed hands/names?

I stayed there last summer on a delivery and am taking another boat through there the first week of December. Shows permanently closed on a Google search, but I get a recording to leave a message when I call the number. Nobody has returned my call from a couple of days ago, so I figured I would ask here. It was very convenient and within walking distance of some good restaurants. Other marina suggestions for a 53' boat will be welcomed.

have you tried the legendary location right there at brooks bridge?

otherwise, you can call harbor walk marina in Destin. They have 2 transient slips and are usually open this time of year. Ask for Steve or Shannon. Tell em Preston sent you

Thanks for the input and the contact info. I called Legendary as they showed having the same address as Brooks Bridge, but they have apparently moved. Seems they don't know who's in that spot now. Harbor Walk shows availability on the date I need (12/03), but they're over $4 per foot. I'm trying to save this guy a buck or two... per foot.

Looks to be just a tad out of the way, but not that much. Any good restaurants within walking distance? That's what was nice about Brown's Bridge last year, that and the fact it was right on the route through the ICW. Will be heading to Apalachicola/Carrabelle next.

Yes, it is still open.

Maybe you have a bad phone number. I spoke to them a month ago at this number (850) 243-7861.

Best of luck to you, T.

Thanks, but that’s the same number I have stored in my phone. I called several times over a period of a few days and always got a machine. Finally left a message but my call was never returned.

Marine Max took over a marina down from Brooks Bridge in Fort Walton, not sure if they have transient slips.

Emerald Coast Marina in Niceville is nice! one restaurant onsite and a good sushi place within walking distance. great marina and good showers and indoor space that i'm sure you can get access to.

I just spoke to them two minutes ago at the number I gave you above. Hours are 8 - 4.

They are a good company, have always been very helpful and courteous.

Good luck, T.

Default I do NOT recommend Two George’s in Shalimar

It’s almost next to my house, good location, promising facility, complete tool.
Perpetually understaffed and unprofessional. I spent 2 full days talking with the staff and verifying storage space indoors. First time I launch the boat after being gone for 3 weeks I find it sitting outside, on the top of a trailer storage rack in the sun and storms. Dude appears to be running a marina that daddy bought him, just a genuine A-hole.

I now just just accept that my boat isn’t completely topped off when I leave my dock and don’t even buy gas from them any longer. I’d stick with the new digs at Brooks Bridge or try Destin. Hopefully “George” is run out of town soon and it becomes Shalimar Yacht Basin again, with an owner who has ever seen a boat or run a business.

He was talking about 2 Georges.

Do this.

You can also try the Fort Walton Yacht Basin. I don't know of they allow transient vessels though.

I have kept my boat in the dry storage at Shalimar Yacht Basin, now Two George's for four years. My experiences are totally opposite from yours. The management at Shalimar Yacht Basin had retired in place and the marina had gone to hell and they were the most arrogant assholes I have ever dealt with. Only reason I put my boat there was becasue it was close to my house. Since George has taken over operation the marina has had a lot of necessary repair work done on the docks and facilities. George grew up on, around, running and repairing boats in Fort Lauderdale and is very knowledgeable about boats and their operation and repair. The marina is 100 times better than it was before he took over and George is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. I am sorry you had a bad experience there but thats not how my experience has been at all.
