Default Mississippi algae bloom

I saw news about the algae bloom being bad on all south MS beaches and no swimming. Can anyone post a report on this? How are the barrier islands?

we were at ship island yesterday and the water was beautiful in the south side of the island. No issues that I am aware of.

All MS coast beaches are closed. That being said I haven't seen a bunch of algae but the midge flies are all over the place due to the fresh water. I don't generally get in the water during July and August due to vibrio bacteria concerns. The park service has said the water at Ship was okay, the south side is you best bet. The islands have more water flow on the south side and the water is generally cleaner.

Per the GINS website all of the islands are still open. Was out yesterday on Petite Bois and all was very nice. All MS mainland beach waters are currently closed.
