No such thing.

Look at NOAA, buoy weather and wind finder. If they all gave the same forecast then good chance the forecast is correct. If two out of three disagree, it will be the worst of the three forecast.

Default Thanks

Thats about what I expected to hear, hard to predict I guess. Usually when I see 0 on bouy weather itíll be 1-2, if forcast is 2 itíll be 3ís.

What he said, and for NOAA, I never look at the written forecast, I just just the NOAA graphical which show maps for 4 time a day and night, the shading of areas for wave height and wind data is useful to me.

Check out saltwatercentral. He just started charging ($25 a year) for the maps buts itís the best thing I have found to quickly understand all the conditions.

Just remember that no matter what site you use and model(s) they are using its still a predictive measure. I typically figure at least 50% on top of the forecast. If they predict 1-2s you can bet there will be plenty of 3s in there.

Reefcast and Windfinder - IIRC they use different models, so if they agree I'm somewhat confident. I like the ensemble feature of Reefcast -lets you see how stable the forecast is over multiple updates. Also remember that period is important too - 4 feet at 4 seconds is a whole different animal from 4 feet at 10 seconds.

I find windfinder to be pretty accurate but I also always error on the side of caution especially when running 50+ miles. A forecast of 2-3 can easily be wrong and go to 3-4. While 3-4 is not unsafe by any means it can make for a slow go and make a fun day not so fun. At the end of the day I'm out there to have fun not get beat up over a few fish and any more with the regulations a FEW fish is all you get.

I use buoy weather, noaa, windy, and windfinder. They are always close but never right on the money. The second thing I did was purchase a couple of books on how to make my own forecast. I then look at the SST and the wind forecast and make my own judgement about what the weather is going to do. Good luck and be safe!

I look at NOAA and sailflow and sometimes windfinder. The best I've found is the $20 version of the windy app. Now that the weather buoy south of the cape is gone its hard to tell conditions offshore. I've found windy to be the best.

A couple weeks ago we had plans to go out Sunday afternoon and night fish for swords then do some daytime drops. We were sitting at the house rigging baits watching it blow 15-20 out of the west. Were getting bad vibes about it but windy showed the wind we were experiencing laying down past about 40 miles and then slacking off for the night. I thought it was a pretty good example to show non-believers this is a thing so I screenshotted it. The following 3 pics are the windy forecast and the result of not just calling the trip because it was howling at the house late afternoon.
