That will give us a great 10 years of fishing, just has long as they have something to eat and stick around or area.

I have never fished for walleyes in September till this year. Who would have ever dreamed we could limit out early in September?

I catch more walleyes in Sept and Oct than any other time of the year. Early to mid Oct is when I catch the largest walleyes all year.

I would guess you didn’t catch many in years passed. Until this year walleyes have never been this abundant in the western basin in the last 42 years I have fished Erie.

Fished on a friends boat out of Walnut Creek PA today. 4 man limit in 1hr 6 min! Threw a few legal fish back and only kept fish between 18-24"

What an amazing fishery.

How could 2016/2017 show such low numbers when I have thrown more small walleye back the past 2 seasons than all of the other years combined?

I would guess you didn’t catch many in years passed. Until this year walleyes have never been this abundant in the western basin in the last 42 years I have fished Erie.

I don't fish as often in mid summer as I do from now until the end of the season. I didn't say the fishing was better the past few years, I just said the walleye fishing for me has been best from now to the end of the season. I don't troll and this time of the season I fish shallow water shoals/reefs. The big walleyes come into the shallow water the later the season gets and you can catch some real hogs in water less than 10' deep.
