Can/will someone draw a preferred route from Detroit to cedar point on a chart between or around the islands into the cedar point marina please.

I would go east of the islands. There is several places of shallow water around the islands so to be safe just run about 2 miles north of Kelley's to be sure you clear Gull Island Shoal. The other way you could go would be running south of the islands, the only shallow water you would have to be concerned about is running to close to Mouse Island and be sure to stay north of Middle Harbor Shoal because you will hit bottom on the top of the shoal. Your route is actually a pretty easy route without much shallow water to worry about. Sorry I don't have a printer to mark up a chart.

75 to 280 to 90/80 to 250, then follow the signs.

Me too.

Once out of the Livingtone Channel (Det River), you can set a course for the PIB Lighthouse in the SW corner of the island. This will take you very near Middle Sister Island, but that's ok - there's plenty of water. Watch for fish nets in that area though. They tend to be east / SE of the island, but there are no guarantees.

You'll come around South Bass (PIB) along the top of Marblehead and head into Sandusky Bay. There is no need whatsoever to enter the Moseley Channel out in the lake. The ferries round "Red 2" at the top center of the bay. I cut it. There's about 10 ft of water over that reef, but Red 2 is a good point of reference if you're not familiar with the area. You can head for the Moseley near the tall range marker and cut-in at Red 8. The landmarks there are the small rental cottages along the breakwall.

I recommend a waypoint or course to guide you to the marina entrance. It's difficult to see when you're inbound. CP wants to you stop at the bulkhead or fuel dock (copper roof) to check-in. Fuel prices are better than I'm hearing are in Mich, so you might as well.

Enjoy!

Are you not using a chart plotter? I find it so easy to navigate with it and correct as I go. But then my draft is only about 18". You can also use this link to plan study the route.
