Default Why is your site so hard to navigate !?!?

I am starting to think about new electronics and was trying to use your site. I am sure there is a reason your site is designed the way it is, but is damn difficult to find anything. If I type in Garmin 24HD (after I wait 45 seconds) I get a long list of descriptions which you need to read instead of just scanning like most sites.

I hear great things about your prices and service, but man you need to work for it.

Greetings:

We do apologize for any difficulty in finding the items you are interested in. The website has been designed as a distributor website as oppose to retail website. We have more than 90,000 SKUs which represent products, warehouse, and specific shipments. This essentially means that our system create SKUs for part numbers if the pricing changes (lower priced due to negotiated bulk buys or from secondary source like partner distributors who need help liquidating products). SKUs are created to reflect the lower priced inventory to benefit clients.

With this in mind, the website is catalog is so dynamic that changes are programatically done in the catalog and the number of changes can be massive that changes on website cannot be done manually.

If you know the manufacturer part number, you are looking for then it is easy enough to search. If you do not know what the part numbers are, it is better to search for it at the manufacturers websiteas it will have more detailed info about the product.

Regardless, pretty much all our clients who have more sophisticated requirements or are unsure what they are looking for finds it best to simply email or call in what they have in mind or their requirements. We will be able to search through our database and recommend the best and the most cost effective solution based on those requirements.

i'm sure you are simply saying what the programmer is telling you, but i would fire him/her and get a new one. it isnt 1995 anymore, and what you need is very simple to accomplish. The amount of sales you are losing is STAGGERING.

Best,

Justin

I've been a repeat customer at getfeetwet.com. The prices are good. That keeps me coming back, but I have to agree, it's not a very user friendly website. searches are quite slow, and often times the descriptions only list part number/sku and do not tell you what it is. And the pictures are only there for about half of the items. If I didn't know that the prices were worth the extra effort, I'd have abandoned the effort long ago. Certainly new customers are doing the same thing. the website needs a better interface.

Greetings:

Thanks for the feedback. We are fully aware of lack of user friendliness of the website. The programming needed to make it a user friendly retail website is does not take much. The challenge has been to maintain the information that shows up on the these pages.

The business model of GetFeetWet is more like a manufacturer/distribution clearing house. Typical dealers will have about 3000 SKUs. We have over 110,000 SKUs from over 600 manufacturers. Inventory levels are constantly changing due to larger volumes we ship based on very aggressive pricing (dealer cost plus handling fee only). With such a number of SKUs and dynamic nature of inventory, it is virtually impossible to keep the website as user friendly as we want ti to be. Think of this website as simply an order processing system.

Buit we do have a much better solution than focusing on make the website pretty. We find that clients are better of communicating their requirements to us and for our staff to review the requirements and then lay down the best and most cost effective options. We not only have direct relationship with manufacturers but have network of partner distributors which will provide the best sourcing option in terms ot pricing and availability.

Clients do not have to worry about where and how to look for the items. We will review the requirements and lay down the best options as we see them, When we provide a solution, clients can validate the specifications direct from manufacturer website which provides the most detailed information about the product.

Our procedure is much more efficient and effective especially when the requirements involve a more complex configuration that needs to be evaluated for compatibility and future expansion. Our experience on working with client requirements for more than a decade is primary the reason why we are preferred by clients who have been in this industry for a long time.

I have to agree that the tech support and sales advice is superb. I've called and always been delighted with the assistance and pricing. That is what I recommend you do if the site proves too much of a challenge.
