Default Tight Butts

I'm kinda figuring that this is about all the butt you can get on a large BGE without the second rack. Having a few folks over this afternoon and told em' I would do the Bar-B-Q. Three 9 pounders rubbed with a combo of Adam's Rib Rub and Bone Sucking Sauce rub. Put on at 4:00 am and hope to pull them off around 5:00 (pm).

How many is a few folks? 27 lbs , dang. Guess you planned on leftovers. Enjoy, looks good already.

Dang 27 pound butts. Never thought they would fit a BGE.

Nice rack!

You may be a little aggressive on your timing, especially with them touching. What temp?

Had about 35-40 people show up. Still had some leftovers because a friend surprised us and brought 12 racks of baby backs.

Yep, the damned things plateaued at 153-155 for over an hour. Finally got the internal up to 190. They drew up just enough to get good air flow around them. It was OK though because everybody was drinking and watching the hot air balloons fly over.

What I like to do with a BB is have the butcher slice up a boneless one in 1/4" think slabs. Marinate in in some bbq sauce, Cajun spices and Italian dressing overnight in the fridge. Once that is complete after 24 hrs put in on the grill.

In Louisiana it's called "Griads" once tried you will never go back.

Those are tight butts, I was thinking another type of butt all together.
