Default Christmas Cake

Yummy....Gotta love this time of the year if your wife bakes.....

Mommas Christmas cake....lots of brown sugar, molasses, nuts, fruit, brandy and free of citron. Not a fan of the bitter taste...

Yummy!

My wife came up with a recipe for a Black Chocolate Cake. She had to go to the internet to find Black Cocoa, and it cost $16 for a jar of the stuff.

The cake took 5 hours to make, and the batter of the cake & the icing both had to be cooked. The icing had a pudding consistency until it cooked and set up cold like icing.

She also cooked a caramel cake which tasted like straight butter. The cake almost tasted like pound cake cooked in a layer cake.

I would post a picture, but both cakes didn't even last 12 hours. They're completely gone.

Next up: Coconut cake that weighs about 10 lbs.

I wish I had the time to type out the full recipe, but it is over a page and a half..

It is called Old English Dark Fruit Cake, and the wife alters the recipe a little...here is one almost identical.

This one was cut into 1/8's and doled out with other goodies to neighbors and co workers of hers! Yes, she saved me a piece or two..
