Default Wagyu Beef

Who has had wagyu beef steaks? How Is it? I've only seen it on the internet and it looks like an almost pure fat steak to my uneducated eyes. It's not for sale anywhere near me but I've been curious is to how great they are.

I’ve had A5 filets via Costco. They were awesome.

I will do strips next time, though. Get a little more meat.

Tge fat fat melts into the meat...very rich tasting. Best steaks ever.

Overpriced piece of meat that is mis-identified most of the time.
Can I have mine Gluten free please?

We have a local farm that has a herd and sells the meat, but there must be significant differences in the animals as the steaks we have had were only just "meh". Apparently the beef can't be called Wagyu unless they have above a percentage of the Kobe stock from Japan in their heritage I was told. Or maybe the local guy is committing cow fraud calling his meat Wagyu. I don't know, but unless I see that deep marbling in the steak I am not buying any more of it.

I've had it a few times at Council Oak in the Tampa Hard Rock Casino.
Melt in your mouth good, cuts like butter, and absolutely delicious.
Extremely expensive, so it has to be a special event.
Give me a choice of where I want to eat for my birthday and the answer is immediate, Council Oak for Wagyu!

I had it judging bbq contests where it was turned in for brisket and I had it a few weeks ago at the Del Friso's Double Eagle in D.C. It's pretty good but I'm not certain I would go for it again.

Sous vide 4 last fall. Very tender & good. Buttery taste and plenty of fat. I think a prime ribeye has a better flavor!

It is very good. The hot dogs (not a joke) are good too.

My local IGA grocer carry's it. I had a strip steak once (was marked way down) and it was probably one of the better steaks I've ever had. I won't pay retail for it though. They have burgers too and occasionally I can get those for like 40% off. Very tasty as well.

I'll take a cap of ribeye over any other piece of meat, including wagyu.

They are very rich and you cant eat too much because of the amount of fat. Really shouldnt be be cooked beyond medium rare or the fat melts out.

Wzgyu burgers seem like a silly idea to me. Might as well buy high fat hamburger

I just bought and cooked 2 wagyu ribeyes. They were awesome. They were $59 per pound so 2 steaks were $129, but worth it in my opinion.
