Default What knot is most effective for circle hooks when kite fishing?

I was wondering what knots everyone uses when kite fishing. I have heard some people using a snell, some using a loop knot, and some using an improved clinch.

I snell my circle hooks , I think that using a loop knot on a circle would cost you a few fish . When tying the snell , make sure the leader comes out through the eye on the hook point side .

For sailfish, I use a loop knot. Works pretty good when the sailfish erratic. Most of the time I'm fishing wire though, don't want to lose wahoo or big kings...

99% wire & j's unless a tournament requires circles.

Snell knot on circle hooks. Uni-knot on j-hooks. Fish #7 wire if there's kings and/or hoos around. Nothing sucks like resetting a kite with no fish to show for it.

I also usually fish wire and don’t find it decreases the number of sail strikes. When bigger tuna are around I will use mono. Always use circles on top. My grandfather taught me to tie an improved clench when I was a kid and have been using it for almost everything on mono ever since. Braid I do a uni. Have only lost one fish in 30 years where the knot failed and I think it was frayed.

Kite fishing does not require special knots. Use whatever knot you use for tying on hooks that you know how to tie. The same can be said for any type of fishing, "some people using a snell, some using a loop knot, and some using an improved clinch."
They say theoretically you are supposed to use a snell with a circle hook but many people better then me do not. The dudes using wire are just trying to put meat in the boat.

FIFY

Usually when you are fun fishing you want to catch everything. I have found that sails bite the best when I'm not specifically targeting them

I had two kites up this day and the meat wagon special on the bottom. Guy which one this sail bit.....

ditto that, the biggest Atlantic sail I ever caught was on a dead sardine on a bottom rig while fishing for grouper in 50' of water.
