Default Boat transport

We are currently looking for a transport company to trailer our boat (344 Cobia) from the West Coast of FL to the East Coast of Florida so we can go to Bimini. Does anyone know of a reputable company for a round-trip haul? Also we were told by one company that the radar would need to be removed? Is this true? Thank you for any advice on the matter or any recommendations!

I have a GW 283 Release with a radar that is mounted to one of the seaview raised mounts. I get an annual permit that allows a height of 14'6" high and 10' wide. Any commercial carrier should have the same annual permit. They would likely need a permit to cover the width of your boat, but the same oversize load permit can also be purchased to cover up to 14'6" high. You can be 13'6" high without adding extra height to the permit. Any higher than 14'6" would be a pain, and you would need an escort vehicle with the height pole. Again, any commercial carrier should get these permits on an annual basis and already have them.

Also, my in laws have a GW 330 express and get an annual permit that allows 14'6" high and 12' wide. It is big boat to trailer and is really close to the 14'6" high to the top of the radar and it does not need to be removed. For comparison here is the GW 330 beside a Bluewater 2550.

I’m about to use Matts Marine Transport to haul my boat from Ft Myers to Fort Lauderdale. He was pretty reasonable for the round trip. I have a 37 Whaler so I needed a bigger platform to haul it because of the beam. He’s out of Fort Lauderdale and been super responsive to me so that is a plus.

I had my boat transported from Miami to Tarpon Springs in early January, and brought back two weeks ago. Nice, reliable, professional and he had a great Co-pilot. I would never use anyone other than Smitty’s Haulin’
