Default Recommendations for AC company in St. Petersburg

One of my AC units seems to have finally kicked. I hired a company last year to do my other unit, and it was a fiasco. I want to get several quotes from different companies and different brands. Anyone have any good experiences with anyone in St. Pete or the Tampa area? I am right by downtown St. Pete.

This guy did a mini split for me and did a great job at good price. He quoted me a price and when he was done I handed him the cash and he handed me BACK $200 and said it was easier and quicker than he thought it would be. Thats RARE!

I have been in the residential home building business for many years. I would recommend Simpson Air or Bayonet heating and cooling. I have used them in literally thousands of homes.

If you want a good reliable co. PM me. Hes local, a fisherman, stands by his work and will make sure everything is right. He wont be the cheapest but is very reasonable compared to others.

Bayonet was in the ballpark.
Precision Air was around the same price as Bayonet, but the guy could not have cared less about what I said. Did not look like he wanted to be there. Smelled terribly of cigarettes. I do not hire people that smell that bad if they have to go in my house.
Simpson Air was really nice, but was the only one who had an issue with where the unit was located, wanted me to remove a section of wall, said there were code issues, said return was too small and needed to be larger, "included" their favorite air filters in the deal for 12 months, and were $2,000 over the other two prices.

I have one more coming today and still have two more on my list to call.

The comment about the return being small is something that happens a lot, it causes lots of issues if that is the case. Newer systems generally require more free area, that being said some brands are more forgiving than others. If it was a little north I'd come take a look but I hate going to St Pete. Simpson did the air in my house and did a good job(spec home so couldn't do it myself).

I can understand that but the return is 18x24 with a short run to the handler. I tend to disagree with them. Regardless they want me to remove a section of wall and all this other work I have to do for them to install it, and they are $2,000 more than the other two quotes so far.

I'd stay away from Bayonet. Bad experience.

Thank you. I tend to want to shy away from them as they do more than just AC so to me hold a GC license to do it all and are not doing AC on a daily basis. They guy who came was really nice and thorough.

I still have one more today and two more I need to call.

The first recommendation, MTS, has never returned a call or email.
