Fantastic, Pete. That's what I aspire to, making memories and getting the next generation on their way to the passion that is boating! Thanks for sharing that wonderful story. Now all I have to do is learn to fish as well as your 10 yr old!

Ha! The kid out-fishes me, my wife and his sister. Thanks man.

I use tuna clips that are like 2.5" long, without the swivel. Look at the 60mm on this amazon.

If you can't find them, let me know and I'll get a couple locally and ship them to you.
It took what seemed like forever for the clips to arrive, but after actually holding one in my hand it seemed like it would slip or twist a bit while trying to quickly remove it from the loop, especially when wet. So I dipped the bottom half of each clip in Plasti Dip to give it a better grip in my hand and reduce fumbling while removing it from the waxed loop. While Muttons are few and far between up this way, I'm looking forward to testing out a new technique on the species that we do have.

Thanks for the advice Jose!

that's a great idea! It's true, it could twist. Still faster than snap clips...
