Default Reel with handles on both sides?

This is an odd request but does anyone have any knowledge of a reel with handles on both the left and right sides? My FIL was born with a disability in one arm so it's easier for him to set the hook and reel with one hand but then reel while fighting with the other. It's hard to explain but as it stands now he has to set the hook and then turn the reel over and reel backwards to fight the fish. A push button zebco style reel works best for him but I have never seen one like that .Hoping maybe someone has come across something like that?

Just knowing how a typical fishing reel is built, I would say a spinning reel would be your best bet.

Since the main gear of a spinning reel is tapped with different threads to accommodate the handle screwing in from each side, it might work. Just have to have enough room..

If you think he can use a spinning reel, I will have a look at one I think might work when I get back in the shop on Monday
JoseG, RCL and Grunts N Grits like this.

Thank you very much Rick. Very kind of you. He has a little trouble casting spinning but I'm wondering if that might be his only option. Again, thank you

No problem...all I can do is try some things out...

What size fish are you targeting?

The Daiwa Goldcast series is a top of the line push button spin cast reel available in several sizes.

Like a spinning reel you can reverse the handle, so maybe this would be worth a look also, to rig with two handles on opposite sides.
