Default Best Fishing Spots in Miami

I would like to take you through Bird Key with me. I fish and catch bait here often. It is a very accessible spot for everyone to enjoy.

Have you fished there? What have you caught?

Thanks! I tell people I can live anywhere in the world, but I still choose Miami because of this beautiful Bay we have.

Great video, Mike!

I used to live at Palm Bay, green building in the background. This was my daily view for 4 yrs. I never really saw a lot of people fishing there, but birds were there constantly. Lots of life around there, dolphins would cruise by all the time. The marina across the channel holds bait depending of the time of the year.

BTW, people don’t realize that there is a small Manatee Zone south of 79 St Bridge to a marker just south of the marina that is permanent, eventhough the rest of the channel from Haulover to downtown is a speed zone after March 31st. Boats cruise at speed ALL the time, some times cops sit there pulling boats over.... ask me how I learned.

I would say that manatee zone is the most un-respected around here...Go there on a weekend and everyone is flying by. Going slow almost feels wrong...

You can see all the prop scars on the flat too which is unfortunate. The flat is so close to the channel and for boaters that are clueless, they buzz right over it.

I mostly get mullet over there which is pretty much a sure thing, but while doing so I usually see big jacks, an occasional snook and a couple times a redfish. The trout fishing can be good, but my experience only the first and last hour of daylight.

Cool video Mike! I love Miami to, its a beautiful place. About 20 years ago i saw pink flamingos wading that flat on the west of the island, it was the only time i've ever seen them there. No they weren't Roseate Spoonbills, i'm a local yocal, i know my south florida birds...lol
