Looking at multiple families doing a trip for kids high school graduation.
Fort Myers is what we have looked at so far. Wanting to stay beachfront .
Will also do some charter fishing trips while there.
What other areas should we look at besides Fort Myers?

Give the Central West Coast a look. Very laid back, island vibe. Plenty to do for adults and kids.
From St Pete Beach to Clearwater. Try somewhere between them for a less touristy destination.

Check out Anna Maria Island too if you really want to get on Island time, or maybe down by Sanibel/Captiva.

I would do on Longboat Key. Plenty of good choices.

I think the Destin area has the best beaches in the whole state.

The upper panhandle has great beaches, incredible fishing much closer than down here in Marco / Fort Myers and They Need Your Dollars Bad! Those guys got flattened. At least look at it.

How much money you want to spend?
Sanibel and Captiva are beautiful and expensive (worth it in my opinion). Clearwater is as well, and would be more economical. The Guy Harvey hotel is reasonable and not too bad.
I personally would not go to Fort Myers to stay.

Get a vacation rental on Little Gasparilla Island. only accessed by water taxi and island transportation is golf cart. That should keep them a bit safer than a regular resort area on the mainland.

Formally, "South sea's Island Plantation", now PC culture told them that was racist so they bent over backwards to "South sea's Island resort"
IMO...very nice but WAYYYYYYY expensive. cheapest room in Feb is $625.00 per night. That give you a marsh view!
Some folks have more $$$ then brains I swear.
