Default Lower Keys backcountry help

Hoping to get some local knowledge....we have been contracted to do some sea turtle surveys and tagging in the lower keys backcountry in Waltz Key Basin area. I'm trying to figure out the best spots to home base from (A VRBO rental, marina or other dockage). Looks on charts and Google Earth like maybe Big Coppitt Key might have access to the backcountry there?

Any suggestions on a place nearby that has access to Waltz Key Basin? We will be working out of a 24 Carolina Skiff with a jackplate, so we can run fairly shallow.

Thanks!

Born and raised on one of the jewel streets (dead end streets Sapphire, Aquamarine, etc.) still live there. This area is a safe, great neighborhood with easy access directly to Waltz Key Basin. You enter the neighbor via boat right alongside Halfmoon Key, it’s easy to see looking at Google earth. Canals are super deep and inside the bay is mostly soft bottom. If you need any help shoot me a PM.

Thanks guys, especially kwpanga and Seacraft 06, I'll check out the neighborhood and we will certainly check out the creeks as well when we get down there.
