Default Charter vessel M/Y Top Gun alleged dumping trash in Exuma

From the Bahamas National Trust Facebook page:

For Immediate Release:

The dumping of trash is illegal in all National Parks.

A concerned park visitor sent us photos of a vessel allegedly dumping trash on one of the islands in The Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park. The alleged vessel M/Y Top Gun and her crew, have been reported to the RBPF, RBDF and the US Coast Guard. They are now under investigation for possible prosecution under the BNT Act. The incriminating photos are posted below. The BNT will not tolerate the abuse of any of the rules in the ECLSP.

Please; let’s all do our part to protect the park and respect the rules.

:ping: Park Warden ECLSP

I know you took some fishy chat room monday morning quarterbacking for recommending a harsh penalty for the guys catching barracuda, but if this vessel is guilty of what's accused, on behalf of the whole forum you have our blessing to recommend a harsh penalty for this one. Double it for the guy in the picture flicking the bird.

Is the driver of the Inflatable giving the photographer "the finger"?
Hopefully he will get the maximum punishment available by law. The owner of the boat should fire all those who were involved.

Agreed. No excuse for this. At least, these jerks bagged their garbage and didn't just dump it over the side, but still, everyone knows you can't just dispose of your garbage on some random island.

I was going to say it could have been a local he paid to dispose of it but that dinghy looks too "yachty".

  • TOP GUN 82’ SUNSEEKER 2004

For $39,000/week plus expenses and gratuity, you'd think they'd figure out a place to store their garbage until it could be legally disposed of. An 82 foot yacht does have enough space for a couple of days' garbage. Pretty disgraceful.

I hope there are other pics that prove to be actually incriminating. If they did what they are accused of, they should be held accountable.

The blurb says a "concerned visitor". The pics look like they are just phone pictures of a dslr camera's LCD screen and it looks like it's probably video not just pictures.

I really hope this story is not true. Someone making a living off mother nature and destroying her is as bad as it gets.

I will reserve judgement until I know the full story but if it is true, it is absolutely shameful.

Perhaps the crew will be terminated by the owner. It very likely that he was not aware, let alone condoned this trash dumping trash.

The fine has to be big enough to sting. $1,000 a pound would be fair.

They should store it in the anchor locker like every other small yacht chartering in the Exumas!
We actually caught a small yacht tender trying to dump trash in our bins at the marina on wednesday night. They pleaded ignorance and returned to their boat with some smelly trash after I made them retrieve it out of our bins.

These people are trash.... I will never understand how someone can go from "Look at this Beautiful place" to "I'm gonna dump my trash here...

I can only assume it is the 'crew' for this boat are complete shit people. I hope someone finds this boat in a Marina and fills it with as much nasty trash as they can find so the "Crew' has to clean it.

Trying to find the owner of this boat is hard as it seems to be impossible as it is available from every charter company in the world.

I had a feeling you guys would already have a thread about this....I just learned about it today....

Has there been any development? As boaters, we need to set an example of how to keep our beaches and waterways clean....This is very disturbing that a captain would act this callously...

Anyone know if this was the captain or know this guy?

This is the listing broker out of Miami - Andrew Harris - Royal Yacht Charters (305) 310-1945 -- Anyone know his position?
