Have a house in the lower Keys so spend some time in KW. Two best restaurants in KW are Little Pearl and Santiago Bodega. Both off the tourist path but you cant go wrong with them. For a casual lunch recommend Geiger Key Marina...

Suggestions above are good also add the Butterfly Museum.....

Love the Grouper - and the lounge upstairs is an awesome addition.

The Café on Southard St was the best meal we had in KW, bar none.

Bahia Honda was still closed, last I heard - and that was pre-ShutDown. Fingers crossed that it reopens, someday soon.

The Angling Company is also a must-visit while you're down there. Superb Fly Shop with a friendly and engaging staff.

Safe Travels!

Bahia Honda is partially open. The north end (Sandspur Beach) is still closed and probably will be for a while. The Nature Center is still closed as well.

The concession is open for snorkeling tours and gear rentals. Boat ramp and boat basin are both open.

Key West Garden Club located at the West Martello tower is a nice free tour in a pretty location. The beach at Fort Zachary Taylor is great with plenty of parking. Also check out the relatively new Waterfront Brewery - they have good food and a can't be beat daily happy hour with $3 beers brewed right there - that's a price that is hard to beat at a great location right on the docks.

If you want a nice dinner without the tiki hut, or jimmy buffet effect try Tavern & Town

Really good seafood tacos from Garbos Grill - basically a food truck with sit down outside picnic tables. Reasonable and really good.

Blue Heaven is a great tourist spot. Food is not exceptional, but as a boat captain I take my guests there whenever I visit and they are always happy. Outdoor seating, cats and chickens roaming around. Real Key West kind of feel with decent food that doesn’t break the bank.

Pretty good food and good tourist atmosphere also with dining on the harbor at “Conch Republic Seafood Company”. Open air, covered seating. Often crowded but seafood is fresh and food good.

Wife and I enjoy going to the happy hours on the piers for the food. There are some good deals on food at many of the places during happy hour. We would get an appetizer at one place and then walk to the other. One place would sell a whole roasted game hen for about $7. Lots of big tarpon, snapper and other fish around the docks along with an occasional manatee.
