"Bar Fly" in Safety Harbor is one I frequent alot. Good fishing theme.

"Black Pearl" in Dunedin is outstanding, but a smaller place. A party of 8 might be tough.

"Cooper's Hawk" and "Roy's" there near the airport might be an option for a larger party.
I would second barfly

It really is top notch. If they are closed we like tide tables right down the road and for the best burgers around check out Duffys on Anna Maria Island.

Iíve never been a fan of Starfish. Cortez Kitchen is hands down better in my opinion in that neighborhood. The buffalo grouper with a double tall rum punch. Mmmmmmm. Annieís is also good place to get a beer.

I don’t know where in Tampa you are looking and I am not from Tampa area.

However, if she is going to area around Busch Gardens or Museum of Science and Industry, there is a little place on Fowler Av called U Poke Spot.

Yes it’s a real name. It’s a pokŤ restaurant. Excellent food on a “fast food style”. Like Chipotle only with sushi quality fish served over fresh vegetables, rice and/or noodles. Spend $15-20 apiece and get great food. The owner also owns a sushi bar a few miles away he knows quality fish. There are also non fish meats available in the same format but I have only eaten their fish.

Ask my wife... It’s the only reason I get excited to go to Tampa!

Big Ray's is opening a second location in front of the Convention Center around April. I think there may be some transient slips available in that area. I haven't yet made it to Big Ray's but went to a party at which chef/owner Nick Cruz made paella and it was great.

No love for Walt'z Fish Shak in Madeira Beach? Or is it supposed to be a secret? Menu changes daily depending on what is available off the boat and it's written on a chalkboard. Get there early; the board is erased as dishes run out and they close the doors when it's all gone--sometimes before 8pm!

A little closer is Rusty Bellies in Tarpon Springs and we went to Olde Bay Cafe and Hogfish Camp in Dunedin yesterday.

ditto on the Rod & Reel Pier. Best crab cakes in Florida. Used to have lunch there a bunch when we were tarpon fishing in that area. But calling it a dive may be giving it too much credit. LOL

Any of the Salt Rock Grill associated restaurants is a good choice. The Columbia that was on the old pier in St Pete was way better than any of the other Columbia restaurants.

Circles in Apollo Beach has the best seafood of all the places I've ever tried around the world. You will not regret trying it....

I love Skipper's, been going there for music since the mid '80s, was there last Friday and will be back Sunday. But their food ain't all that great. Although I do highly recommend the blackened wahoo nuggets when they're on special.
