Nice!

Lake Worth is going to be a considerably longer run. So, if you don't have a compelling reason to leave from there (like a free place to keep the truck/ trailer or something), I'd recommend leaving further south. Having said that, people do it all the time.

Seacrest is all you need for a Bimini trip-- I stay there every time. Price is right.

Jeff
Good advice and probably what I'll do just for peace of mind that the truck is better secured.

Seacrest is definitely all I need. If it were up to me I would throw a sleeping bag in the cockpit and crash on the boat but the wife requires a few more amenities.....
How soon to you typically need to make reservations?

My plan right now is the 24th through the 27th. I was thinking go through the week to try and dodge the bigger crowds but I'm flexible. Ultimately the weather will make the game time decision. Lets touch base later and we can group up if we end up crossing on the same day.

We crossed 4th of July week last year and stored truck and trailer at Harbour Towne and didnt have a problem we arrived on June 30 (group of 4 boats) and left them there for the week, staff was very helpful also.

Yes certainly keep in touch, we plan on returning on the 27th also so we could at least get together for the ride home.

In regard to crossing from further north, if the weather is good, the ride over is really enjoyable and you won't regret it at all. If it's really rough, that extra distance could be a real bummer. But it's summer, so it probably won't be bad.

In regard to making reservations, I've never had an issue getting a reservation the week-of or a few weeks before. Honestly, they don't seem to have a real "reservation" program or anything anyways. I think they just write it down on a calendar or something... so even if you make a reservation now, I'd call to double check they haven't "lost" it when it gets closer. It's very rudimentary there-- half the time there's no one in the office to even pick up a phone.

If you go during the week, you likely could show up with no reservation and not have any issue. On a summer weekend, if the weather forecast is good, you may want to call ahead to just make sure. You'd definitely want to make a reservation as far in advance as you can if you're going on a holiday weekend.

Unsolicited advice about staying at the Seacrest: ask for a 1st floor, marina view room. Even if it's a few bucks more. It has nothing to do with the view, it has to do with avoiding lugging fishing gear, coolers, etc. across the road and/or up the stairs. It gets old, fast.

Hope that helps a little.

Jeff

Final pic from yesterday’s 2 day wahoo fest in Bimini. Best advice is to put in lines at first light and you can be back at the dock at Big Game having breakfast at 9 am.

Also saw somone claiming to be a Biminite saying that they're just burning trash at the dump and the wind was kicking the flames up high.

But I have no idea.

Hotel is fine, guess they didn’t want to pay to barge off the trash.

Headed over on June 16 out of Harbour Towne. Planning on making wakes at first light. I am pretty sure there are several other boats (Sailfish Boat Owners) that will be headed out to make the crossing that morning from Harbour Towne as well. We will be returning on the 20th. Have a house on N Bimini but we will dock at Seacrest for the week.

MAR 22 2019 CROSSING..

Hey all. This actually may be my second post ever on a forum. So go easy. I am planning on making a run to Georgetown on March 22. We are going to leave out of Lauderdale early in the morning, stop by customs in Bimini and head over to Nassau for the night. Then make the remaining trek down the west side the next morning. This will be my first time crossing and I have made checklist upon checklist(its the pilot in me). But am always willing to listen to sound advice. Other then posting here is there anywhere else that you can find out if others will be crossing on certain dates??

Seacrest is the jam!! Stayed there last June and loved every bit of it. Wife agrees that we won't stay anywhere else. We didn't need all the fancy bells and whistles of the newer stuff. The only time we were in the room was to sleep

For some reason the calendar for 2019 isn't available yet, hopefully the Admin will sort that soon.
