It was worth a shot. Here where I live I can go to the local fish market and the have a huge ice machine and I buy it by the cooler full. Can fill 2 coolers 150 qt each for $5.00

That may very well exist. I'm really not sure but I've never sought it out.

You may be better served posting in the Boca Hillsboro fishing thread? Or if there's an Ft Lauderdale fishing thread? I would imagine the commercial guys would be most in-tune with that as they'd have a daily need for large quantities.

Or maybe call a few of the local bait and tackle shops near where you're staying and ask them?

Good luck and let us know if you find anything! Would be good knowledge for the thread.

Default Looking for a ride April 29

Anyone heading to Bimini on April 29th, and willing to take 2 people with them? My friend and I want to go to Bimini’s and no Ferry runs on the 29th, so just looking to see other possibilities. Thanks.

Anywhere south to target them?

zh50, not really. You generally have to head up to the Isaacs before you're going to get into the yellowfin.

Called around and found Atlantic ice company in Ft Lauderdale. He told me he will sell ice to anybody that wants it. 10,20 and 40 lb bags and block ice also. The price is pretty darn reasonable. Just thought everybody would like to know

This page lists the per foot cost at the BBG Marina. What are they referring to with the "entry fee"? Is that an entry fee into the Bahamas, or are they trying to whack me with another $150 fee?

Can anyone offer suggestions on what kind of bait you take with you or what you like to use fishing in Bimini? Obviously it varies between bottom and trolling. Ive never fished south Florida or the Bahamas so the bait choices and options are slightly different than we use here in north Florida. Also, where do you get your bait for the trip? I know to take as much with me as I can, but where is a good place to get it in the Dania Beach/Ft. Lauderdale area? Thanks!

Bahamian fees. As it says, $150 up to 35' and $300 over 35'.

I'm getting mine here. ANGLERS BAIT & TACKLE - Home
Can't say what kind of shop it is but it is right down the street from where I am putting in.

I'd suggest the following: yeti or like cooler. 6-10 packs of rigged ballyhoo. 3-4 blocks of tournament green label chum. 3 gallon sized bags of rolled oats. 5 lb block of silver sides 1 at of menhaden oil or milk if you find it. A case of yellowtail up or snapper up.
now rigged baits are self explanatory. When you arrive, get a half bucket of fine clean sand, 1 by oats, let a block of chum completely thaw Mix and let sit. That's you sand balls (bottom) oh and bring 3 dozen un rigged bally. That will last you at least 3 days. Top it all off with dry ice.

Great weekend. Came over on Thursday in an honest 3 to 5, not terribly pleasant. Friday was awful, met a guy that crossed in a 35 contender and could only do 12 knots. Braver man than I.

Today hit honeymoon harbor and did a couple of last minute deep drops (home made chicken rig) with my sons and caught some awesome dinner.

On the way back in the channel rescued a big intrepid (I think) that got hung up just outside the channel. Some jet ski guys ran him my fishing anchor line and pulled him out. Hats off to him, kept his cool like a champ.

Tomorrow back to miami in the afternoon , seas look amazing.

I got a group making the crossing on 5/9 to 5/13 from Harbor Town Marina. If anyone is interested in joining. This will be our second time to bimini first time with our boat. Last year we made the crossing to Port Lucaya.

Just got back yesterday. Bimini is still there. Little shout out to the dock hands at Brown's and Watson's Grocery Store and the great ladies at the straw market who were so nice to my buddies girls. Had to do the tourist thing and have the girls hair braided and the ladies were just awesome to the girls. Stayed in a great house in PORT Royale and it was a nice 5 days

My son ran over to Bimini on Friday on a Freeman 33 in 4-6s at 30-35 mph. He said it was the best riding boat he’s ever been on. He took the guys up to the channel for yellowfin yesterday. Found the birds on radar. Chunked up some yellowfin. Paid the tax man. Got some mahi around a pallet but couldn’t get the 30 pound bull to bite. Then they deep dropped for yellow eyes. Typical day in paradise.

Then my son had to take the ferry back to Miami last evening so he could run a charter on his boat this morning. First time on the ferry. He was impressed. It flew at 37 mph over 4-6s and he didn’t feel a thing. Got to love those catamarans.

Great. We were docked in front of Big Johns Friday night. It wasn't us, we left Saturday morning so we're clean. It appears gun laws work over there as well as they work over here.

Heading over July 11-14 for maiden voyage with family for some relaxation and some fishing. Trying to stay at Sands, since the dock is out your door. Read through some of the strings and welcome any suggestions or comments from where to stay and how to hire local for fishing.

Thanks!
