Bimini Sands is open, and still a great place to stay. A lot of owners on this site, including myself have our condos for rent. Let me know if I can help you out.

I wonder if when the new owners take over Bimini Sands if you will have to go into the rental pool or if you will be able to rent on your own still.

IMHO it's no use speculating. For me I have always been just a little bit overboard trying to be prepared for whatever may happen wether it's fishing or our condo. Just for the record 4Q is really looking good right now and it's ready for whatever may happen.

Turns out the wahoo bite has been first thing in the morning and then it turns off. A bunch of guys skunked it appears unfortunately. Not a hot bite right now at Bimini. And the tax man is always around.

Looks like a propeller shark to me.

We called harbor town. they said we cannot keep the boat on the trailer overnight the day before we launch. Do you guys know a hotel that has boat parking or any other suggestions?

I have stayed at Bahia Mar a few times the night before and left the boat on the trailer.

Capt, last year we called Bahia Mar on our way down and reserved a slip. Once in Ft Lauderdale, we went straight to Harbour Town and loaded all we had into the boat and launched. Took a 30 minute ride up the intercostal and arrived at Bahia Mar. Checked into our room then hauled our stuff to the room. The next morning we got up early, loaded the boat and eased out the inlet and off we went. Seemed to work well for us. Although this year, we are going to save the money and a day and by pass staying in lauderdale. We'll do Jax to Ft Lauderdale through the night, then launch and run to Bimini once we arrive in Lauderdale.

I was told the same thing. We stayed at the Cambria Suites. About 10 minutes away. I had a truck and 30 foot boat, was able to park on back side of hotel. Did it 2 years in a row. We just uber around the night before for dinner. They have suites also that have 3 queen beds. Just off 95.

You are better off NOT bringing any guns to Bimini. You don't need them and it is a pain in the ass. If you are on any kind of Center Console or not staying on your boat with secured storage you must also check them with the Police Department. You are allowed 3 guns with up to 250 rounds. If you bring guns they can never leave the boat. Customs WILL come for an inspection and a hard count of all ammunition. They will also asses at that point your ability to secure the weapons. This is a point that they don't F' around with. They will count down to the rounds in your clip. If you are proceeding deeper into the Bahamas then you can of course get the guns back and continue your travels. We have been traveling to the Bahamas for years - we DO carry when we are going deeper into the out islands - but not Bimini, there is just no reason. Their rationale for this is that they don't want them to escape into their population and anyone that has one onshore is in for a world of problems.

The best way to learn about the places to stay on the island are to read through the previous posts in this thread and previous years threads. It's a little time consuming but anything you could ever want to know is all there. I've read them all multiple times and took notes preparing for my trip. In any case here is a short list:

Hilton Resorts World
Bimini Big Game Club
Seacrest
Bluewater
Bimini Sands

There are also private homes available on canals with docks in South Bimini. You can find those on VRBO. Where you want to stay of course is personal preference and depends on your budget and amenities you'd like to have.
