Let's see how many golf cart accidents there will be this year involving 13 year olds drinking until they pass out. Honeymoon harbor should be epic with stereo systems loud enough to hear back in Miami. Just hope common sense prevails and there are no fatalities from stupidity.

Haha, no, it's not. I graduated (from both HS and college) in May.

Spring break is in March.

Have a group of 3 crossing in wave runners on May 1st returning on the 4th. Would love to have a chase boat for gear etc. You still plan on going?

I would suggest the chase boat is essential--not a wish!
I would also advise the CG and bring a Spot (or two).

Hey Capt Flippy. From our research Crandon Park in Key Biscayne is a good, safe spot. Around $20/night to leave vehicle and trailer. You can call them 305-361-1289. looks like our dates have changed to August 7th returning on the 10th.

That's a good time to cross. We went to Green Turtle Cay last year on July 5th, and this year we will be heading to Bimini Sands (7/5) staying through July 11. I have fortunately not been in the position (yet) to have to move dates around... it is a great question.

Last I was told from Bimini Sands was that they won't be taking any reservations until the end of May.

Family trip or guys' trip?

You fishing only? Enjoying the island? Want a pool? Other amenities?

Are you and your crew OK with sandy floors in the room? Very basic/ motel style rooms?

Want to cook in your room? Or you want to eat out every meal?

Budget an issue?

If you give some additional information we can probably be a little more helpful

Plus...We still have not heard who new Sands owner is, that was announced in a deal a few weeks ago...? Guess it depends on their closing on property/timing/renovations & improvements...and if its true?

Sorry, Doesn't have to be the Ritz but not a fan of roaches haha.
Will probably be 2-3 couples between 28-30 no kids.
Mix of cruising and sitting in the sand with a side of fishing. No real agenda
First trip over and couldn't find anything in west end.
Thanks for the help

Hello,

First off, yes, West End is a mess right now. However, I believe you could either stay at Bootle Bay or Blue Marlin Cove just about 5 miles southeast of West End if you wanted to stay further north than Bimini. Or you could go to Freeport, but that's more of a city. Several hotels and options there. Just giving options and I've never stayed at any of them. You could search here on the forum for more information on them as there are plenty of reviews/ opinions.

Second off, for Bimini, it sounds to me like your best bet would be Bimini Big Game Club. I personally usually stay at Seacrest, but not all would be OK with it-- especially the women. I don't ever recall seeing a roach there, but I also wouldn't be super surprised. Seacrest is really more for a guys' fishing trip in my opinion.

Anyways, Big Game Club is second "nicest" on the north island after Resorts World but I don't think Resorts World really gives you the Bimini experience. Resorts World is sort-of like being on a stationary cruise or at the Disney World version of Bimini.

Big Game has two restaurant/bars on site (one of which is elevated and overlooking the marina and beyond), a small but nice pool, good docks, and it's on the south end of the north island where all the "action" is. I'm guessing you guys wouldn't mind "hitting the town" at least one night based on your ages (I'm 27, so I figure we're about the same in that regard). That is much, much easier when staying on the north island because, unless someone else tells me otherwise, I don't think there are any restaurants or bars open on the south island right now. The north island has several, including the conch shakes (Joe's and Stuart's) which are a must-do in my opinion and you can also either cab or golf cart up to Resorts World to check it out. If you're on the south island, you need to either take your boat or the ferry to get to any of those things as there is no bridge.

The only things on the south island are the airport, the Sands and private homes (some of which are for rent). If you want a very quiet, relaxing trip, then I suggest the south island. Some of the houses are very nice (Vinny on this thread has a nice one) and have nice kitchens, private docks, etc.).

There are beaches on both islands, of course, but I don't put much thought into that because we always boat to the beach during the day, so you can use any beach you want regardless of where you stay.

OK, I'll stop rambling on now. I think you'd be best off at Big Game Club. Maybe someone else here will feel differently. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to help as best I can.
