We made it home last night... got our arsses kicked going over big time. Came back early last night. Didnt want to mess with the north wind today.

We had a great trip but it was very windy all weekend so anything on the water was not allot of fun.

We left very very early on Friday morning with the intent to hit the water at first light. Well about an hour out my transmission took a crap. Had to get my H2 towed and we ended up renting a uhaul to pull the boat. We finally made it out about 3:30 and it was very slow going. finally got in about 5:30. Got through customs and immigration with no issues.

Met lots of great people on the island. Made many new friends. Drank way to much beer. Liking the taste of Kalik.

That reminds me of my first time drinking too much beer. About 20 years ago I was 20, and I was a deck hand on a private yacht. Our first night in the Bahamas, Lucaya, the Captain picked up the bar tab. I woke up in my rack, with no memory of getting back there, covered in my own puke. I wasn't able to function all day. I kept the bottle of Lucayan beer that was somehow in my rack with me as a reminder of drinking to excess. I still have it on a shelf in my office to this day, and I've never so much as drank myself to a tummy ache/head ache since.

The worst part was that I missed out on a day of diving before the boat owners showed up. We were taking the runabout to a few nearby spots the Captain knew about. They tell me it was beautiful...

They don't make that beer anymore (Thank God!) Keep the bottle, it's a great souvenir and will soon be an antique!

Have fun! Make sure you have a plan for the no see ums... They completely ate us alive even with bug spray. You get out of the pool and get mauled. the wife and I probably have over 200 bites between us.

I want to go so badly this weekend, but no one to go with and I could only go for one night anyways .

Hope everyone gets over there and has a blast.

Gotcha. Sounds awesome! Hope you get your slips and rooms booked soon, as Memorial Day weekend is a busy time, I'm told.

Hey Jeff. I was on the verge of going to Bimini but were going to run to Islamorada for 4 days instead. Always seems strange that its longer to upper matecumbe than it is to Bimini. Im in for a trip in May if anyone else wants to go. April is out for crossing due to all UM Football ... 4/6 at Coral Shores High School in Plantation Key, 4/13 at Miami-Dade North and 4/20 in Orlando.

Yea, I have the same dilemma re: Keys. Just too far/ too expensive for me to justify running the boat down from Boca. I don't have the desire (or truck, for that matter) to tow my Grady down there either. Need to convince my father to let me trailer his 22' boat down there to putt around or find a friend with a trailer-able boat haha.

Also, you're going to all the spring games?? Sheesh, I thought I used to be a big fan-- that's crazy. I actually gave up my season tickets last year after missing like 2 home games since my freshman year in college (2009 season w/ Jacory Harris & the Northwestern crew). My college buddies and I drove up to the ACCCG two years ago and that really was kind of the cherry on the top of my declining obsession. I still love the Canes, and I go to games when I want and watch on TV when I don't, but I don't feel the need to give up 6-7 prime boating Saturdays a year to watch them play Bethune-Cookman, Duke, UVA, Pitt, Toledo, ect. anymore.

Anyways, if there are good crossing weekends/days in May, I'll probably be down to go.

Jeff
