Default Airbnb .... Monthly rental SE Florida... Thoughts?

So, I've been over in Sarasota Florida for over a month and I'm looking to move over to SE Florida for a month, possibly more. I've been looking from around Boca to Miami and I can't believe the prices....3br homes asking $15k-$20k plus fees, plus taxes.... I'm all for owners making a profit but this has gotten out of control, IMO... I know it's the high season,...Long term rentals seem reasonable (IE 6/months - year) and vacation rentals at $300+ night seem crazy when you are "mid-long-term"

I'm down here studying the algae blooms and I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount....If anyone has a nice place they want to rent last min. let me know.

If its the blue green algae you're looking at wouldn't you be better off farther north? Prices would be much lower also.

I've been up that way before....I'm not sampling....I'm meeting with biologists...Also, the Red-Tide goes around the keys and up the coast via warm circulating waters... I just see some properties that appear to sit vacant due to not getting asking price. Sometimes because the property is managed, the owner doesn't even know an offer has been made. Thanks for your input...Correct, the bloom from Lake O is further north...I know the blooms have subsided. I'm not specifically looking into the issue for Florida, but worldwide....Florida just happens to be dealing with it now.

Yes, you're right. It's season and the ask for some of these short term rentals is ridiculous, yet people are paying it. Good luck with finding something suitable that will fit your needs!

We have a room we airbnb in Stuart. Very clean. Couple steps to the river. Roughly 50.00 per night. Not much but good clean neighborhood and close to the fun.

Thanks guys.... I spent a winter in Stuart. Very nice place and I've been to the Keys a few time. Definitely need a kitchen...

I did find reasonable accommodations in Naples...Never been there before so I thought it would be worth checking out...So, that will get us to the first of the year. I'll see what I can find for Jan... I really prefer to stay somewhere a month or longer. Hopefully after the Holidays it will be easier... Miami up to Boca...The search will continue.

I know this doesn't help, but I'm on my way down to the keys this Friday with a rental on a canal with pool and hottub. Stoked beyond belief to get out of this cold weather for the holidays. Good luck on your search!
