Default Gags are back!

Momma got this nice 29" this afternoon 25 miles west of Hudson, Fl...in 50'...

We were light weight fishing for mangroves using some live greenbacks...and started to get rocked up

Brought out the grouper gear and still lost three nice fish.

We trolled for an hour on the way out over some hard bottom in 30' looking for kings or gags....but struck out there.

We put a lot of fish in the boat...black sea bass, short red grouper, short gag grouper, and AJ, big remora, lots of grunts...three were worth bringing home.

Fun day...and for not running the boat the last two months was happy everything worked, and worked well.....

It was a fun day. I really would have liked to see the big ones that buried them selves in the rocks.
I was telling a friend how we found this new spot, idling along while Barb was making sandwiches. He's very jealous of us having lunch catered on the boat

I'm glad that you finally got out, Rick. But you sure like to run far. We got 5 keeper gags and a legal red on Wednesday in 35-42 ft SW out of Homosassa, which is just west of you. Also, put 5 big mangroves in the boat on grouper gear. There are a ton of 18"-20" mangroves all over the place out there this year. We saw them diving over the summer and now that it's cooled down they are starting to eat. If we had live greenies we could have slayed them.

Yeah...we were not that far out...I just edited it...we were in 50'....25 miles out!

We started in 26'-30'....and worked our way out. Give me those numbers and I'll let you know how they work out for us...

Yeah, she kicked Jack and my asses for sure....! All we did was get rocked and caught trash fish...she gets dinner for a few nights!

Along with fixing us a nice roast beef on deli roll, spicy mustard, let. tom. mayo......ummmm!

We found this spot leaving a dead one and idling along so she could make our lunches....and BINGO..!

Jack and I were talking about how much the bottom has changed since all the storms, especially Irma last year...

Many spots I have fished since the mid 80's are long gone....but these new ones keep popping up.

Awesome, Rick and Barb! You know, we STILL haven't gotten out this year, and don't you still have a lost anchor for me to find?

I've got Nov 17-26 off so let me know if you want to try and get out (either fishing or diving).

Yeah, shes pretty warm blooded and hates it under 75.....but all of that is for the sun protection. I had to ask her to remove her "mask" to show her face...then she sticks the fish in front of her!

Nice ones Rick.

Been dying to go but have been booked inshore all week. It got to blowing pretty good yesterday. Saw a lot of smaller boats headed out for the King of the Beach yesterday. I bet they had them some fun.

Trolled up a nice 25 incher inside of 30 ft. Hit a Mann’s stretch 30 15 minutes after lines went in. Trolled unsuccessfully for next hour. Also pulled 12 claws out of the trap today. It was a good day!
