So now we need to wait for whoever has the local politicians in their back pockets to have an opening in their schedules .. Which probably won't happen any time soon, since pretty much every builder in the county that has the equipment and certifications to build/repair are backed up with commercial and residential projects. And, from how I was explained it, the county workers can only do above water work on the ramps -- so since most need pilon work they have their hands tied.

The .5% tax that was voted in with the last election that was supposed to go to cleaning up waterways. A good portion of the 1st tax went to Space Coast United's split with USSSA to resurface the complex in Viera with the latest turf on the planet.
$$ that should have gone to ramp updates.. A portion is going to muck removal as required by the voters.. IMO, it all should be focused on the IRL system. Muck. ramps, pollution control...

This whole thing was so tone-deaf by the county. Poorly planned timing, poorly marketed and most of all, they tried to hide it which let social media and local news control the narrative. But the money came from the right place.

I see the barge and crane are gone for the us1/pineda ramp, its still closed see new metal ramp. So hopefully this one will open soon??
Also cocoa village ramp now has places to tie up and get truck/trailer, that was all that was missing. Not sure if that ramp is too steep for my boat yet.

I've used Pineda a few times, be careful going in and out of the new channel to the ramp - there's at least one huge piece of limestone just under the surface not far out of the channel, luckily saw it on the way in one day. It was already scarred up from people hitting it.
Last I heard Ballard park ramp is closed, not sure when they're going to reopen, anyone know?

To be 100% accurate about the sources of tax money for Viera field: NOT ONE PENNY of the SOIRL tax was used for this. As to the MIHS field, I served on the SOIRL board and I do not recall seeing that expenditure in our budget at any time (and I watch the darn budget pretty close). The SOIRL money is also NOT being used for ramps. It is being used to remove septic tanks, to install baffle boxes, to dredge muck and about 47 other projects underway with the goal of reducing nutrients flowing into the Lagoon.
