Default Marina Recommendations- Keys

I am thinking about bringing my boat down to the keys for the winter. I am looking to keep the boat in either Marathon or Islamorada. The boat is a 36 Bertram. Looking for a decent marina with easy access. I was thinking about keeping the boat in Hawks Cay, but it looks rather expensive. Any good recommendations? We will be spending long weekends on the boat so looking for somewhere that is family friendly.

Plantation Yacht Harbor might be worth a look. That’s near Islamorada.

I agree with Plantation Yacht Harbor. That would be my first choice in Islamorada.
If that doesn't work out, I check out Smuggler's Cove which is also in Islamorada.

Marathon Marinaband Fao Blanco are the only "transient marina" in Marathon
All the other ones cater to guests at their lodging

We live full time aboard our 65' at Plantation Yacht Harbor in Islamorada, and highly recommend it for both security and amenities. However, if all you are looking for is storage and quick access to the ocean, then Smuggler's Cove would serve you well. All marinas in the Keys are expensive, and Plantation will be similarly priced to Hawk's, Faro Blanco, and Marathon Smuggler's may be a little cheaper, but not by much. Plantation and Smuggler's ocean access is via Snake Creek where the 24' drawbridge operates at the top of the hour only. Minimum depth at the entrance to Snake Creek is 4.5' at MLW, with a 1 to 1.5' tide. Several 6' draft sportfishers operate out of Plantation and Smuggler's. Space is still limited due to Irma damage to oceanside marinas and canals, although PostCard Inn is still scheduled to open in August, so make your plans as early as possible.

I agree with Marathon Marina. Another great option is Bonefish Marina. Private slips but I think you can rent through the marina.
Boat house also has a few nice slips, not sure about living aboard.
When I first came to Marathon I lived on the boat at what is now Skipjack Resort, a little longer ride to get out but scenic.

Thanks for the replies I will check them out. We will be living on board for long weekends when we are down. I have two younger kids so I would like some amenities like a pool to keep them occupied some of the time.
