Default Bahamas Tuna

Trying to turn a wahoo trip into a yellowfin tuna trip in the channel. Is March too early to find yellowfin tuna in the Bahamas?

Has anyone actually fished it or is everyone assuming? I only heard of some scattered bites and none were in the channel. Has anyone headed into the channel to hunt? Pictures with it maybe?

The guys that you see replying on this thread are very experienced tuna fisherman and some fish for them in the channel year round. Photos is not important. Having the knowledge to know just what to do is the name of the game!!

I am going over April 30 - May 3. Hoping to hit the Tuna.

Going to stay on Great Harbour.

I was told the NW channel should be good for the Tuna.

Not a bad run to the tongue or pocket.

Which would you do?

I have heard a couple reports of fish being caught as well. Best time of year to be out there, wahoo troll the morning and finish the day with the tuna.

We fished the pocket over the weekend, we caught some nice hoo's and a nice blue and surprisingly caught a 80lb YF on the troll. The fishing was pretty good over there, rough, but good!

Seen some social media posts indicating some action but haven't seen a whole lot of action. Getting fired up for the first trip this season. Might try for a mid march run if weather cooperates.

What are you using for lures/bait over there by Spanish Wells?

May run over from GHC this spring wondering what techniques work. I am guessing nobody has flats of sardines over there for chunking.

Heading over April 13th to fish the pocket. Should be a fun time. Hopefully the fish are there.

Where is the "Tongue" and where is "The Pocket"? I know where "The Corner" is.

Here is what I know or think I know Forgot to mark the Tongue of the Ocean it is the deep water next to Freetown on the screenshot.

Feel free to make corrections I have no idea where the Corner is.
