Lighthouse grill at hyatt. Good food but pricey.

Wow. Thanks for the intel.

Looking forward to some good cuban food. Will likely try a few of the recommendations.

Thanks again.

For Cuban we love La Nina, its a little past West Marine. Very small inside so we have always only done take out from them. If you don't speak Spanish when you call just start talking and they will get someone who speaks English.

Their breakfast pastries are very good as well.

The most under-rated little place right now is Big Mouth, right by Publix. Everything on the menu is excellent, very fresh ingredients, awesome pizza, sandwiches and salads.

I like Lazy Days for sit down lunch.

Burdines for burger and fries, can't go wrong. The Chiki-tiki chicken sandwich is a go-to also.

I'd also cast a vote for Brutus Seafood, I'd go there over Keys Fisheries any day.

I'm hearing good things about the new reopened Sparky's but I have not been there yet.

Wooden Spoon for breakfast. Stuffed Pig too, and hopefully Stouts will reopen soon.

Franks is always a good choice, as has been mentioned.

Breakfast...
The stuffed pig-US 1 mm49/across from city park/south of Steak & Lobster House....stuffed Pig menu item #9, under $5 perfect breakfast!
Show up after daylight, back Tiki will be open then, outside seating/smoking and local cats will keep you company till breakfast arrives...before daylight (they open around 5am) you'll have to eat in the small inside dinner section with local commercial fisherman who will be holding court...

Dinner
Key colony dinner place (can't remember the name?) on key colony)) with the panino guy (he was my neighbor in boot key harbor when I lived aboard there) if you wanna impress a woman or doing double date thing, def a dress to impress place!

Lou Lou's across from airport (just north of Tesoro gas station) has nice food semi reasonably priced, women like this place???

Castaways (boot key harbor-boat parking or car) for raw bar...entertainment here is good, mega drafts...

Sunset Grill always a pleaser, it's the ambiance of course...

Dockside @ bootkey harbor seemingly changes hands every year or so, it's always worth checking out especially if you are a yearly returning person so as you can keep up with the history/evolution of "dockside"

Is "toof-less/roof-less Mary" (Sparky mascot breakfast server) still working there, she survived Irma???

She will remind you of mrs shrek literally...she's what kept the place going when I lived there.

Another vote for Castaways. Great sushi, fresh salads and good overall food. Locals place. A little sketchy driving in at night but Irma cleaned a lot of that out.

Wooden Spoon for breakfast. Burdines for a burger/fries and you've got to try the deep fried key lime pie at least once.

Lazy days or Island fish co. for dinner. Sunset grill for the view and drinks, food is ok but nothing to write home about.

La Nińa has good Cuban food too but it’s a little hole in the wall. I’m partial to the media noche.
The coffee is a must in the morning if your on the west end of Marathon.

Agree. Went there last year and the food was mediocre at best.

It has been a while since I was last there, but the Hideaway Cafe was a hidden gem. Don't know how they fared with Irma.

Check out Keys Fishery, but also they have a elevated tiki bar that is nice to grab a drink and they have a raw bar. Nice to enjoy some stone crab claws up there.

While the discussion is on Marathon. I have been thinking about bringing the family down for a week in late May early June time frame. Does anyone have any recommendations for a nice oceanview town-home, or condo unit for rent that would supply added items like Kayaks, and maybe snorkling gear?

Not exactly Marathon but the No Name Pub on Big Pine might be worth the trip for Pizza.

Late lunch at Burdines, Mahi blackened sandwich and a cold Islamorada Sand Bar, doesn’t get better than that.
