West wind isn’t always bad. A NW wind is the hallmark of any cold front - ask any sailfisherman what their favorite wind is.

Fished out of boynton mid day today. Was looking for sails in 100' on a little edge and ended up catching a little keeper dolphin. It had a few friends with it but given the seas and lack of foresight I only got the one. Wasn't too bad when I went out but got progressively worse as the day went on. Boynton was ugly so I trekked to Palm Beach into a stiff north wind. The inlet up there was flat. Took the hour or so ride back in the ditch just happy to be back inshore.

That's what I've always heard and believed. But the best two days I've had in the last 2 months were on a SW and W wind. Both days I found a viscous stream Rip with lots of debris and weed. The more time you have bait in the water the better odds of bringing home dinner!

Well, since my original post the forecasted wind has switched 180 degrees and is suppose to blow from the east, so I'm going to attempt to go out. We'll see how it goes. Anyone else fishing out of LWI or Jupiter tomorrow?

Default Sails

Friday...Fished all day from Juno Pier to Jupiter. Flew kite with 2 baits and one off rigger. I was solo. Got first bite at 9.30. Big sail. Jumped twice and not again. Took one hour to get it to the boat fishing 20lb. Literally dragged me from 130 ft to 360 ft, when I finally got it to the boat and saw it was hooked just forward of it's tail. Managed to get this shot and then swam it for about 10 minutes next to boat. Released one other later and missed two...one a sail, the other unknown, but bait looked like a sail bite. Overall it was a beautiful day offshore, finally.

Quick report, no pics, sorry.
Went out today, discovered they were all out of bait so my plans to kite fish were killed.
Go out the inlet and met with some very rough seas. To rough to drive north so we put out trolling lines and headed south. No bites zig zagging from 150-300 until 10mi from Boynton. Started picking up fish around 180ft. 3 Bonita and one chopped on half by a wahoo. Two 19.5" dolphin, and one 14lb Dolphin. Two blackfin tuna (footballs).
3 cutoffs on the way back outriggers. All fish caught were on a homemade black/red daisey chain and on a blue/white deep diving trolling plug both not far off the end of the prob walk.
Came in through Boynton and ran north that way.
Tainui and Anyhoo like this.

Looks pretty good all weekend. A little bumpy but wind direction is good.
