decent chop this morning out of boynton. I’ll call it a messy 2-3’. Fished solo knowing the weeds would be bad but figured I’d go for a bit anyway. Trolled a planer bait and that was it. Lost something decent and landed a 15lbs king and was back at the dock by 845. Tarpon fishing has been good inside. Been getting em almost every day this week. Had a couple over a 100lbs. Prolly going to stick with the that til the weed gets better.

Took a quick trip last night just to poke around. Surprisingly the weeds were not that bad north of boynton. Pulled planers got a little dolphin and a couple little tunas and called it. Such a great feeling to be able to troll around for a while and drink a few beers instead of constantly clearing the spread.

Went out early yesterday off Jupiter, started out on the bottom and had a major field day catching one of my fav fish rainbow runners, unfortunately the filefish took over, headed deep around 830 weeds still everywhere until maybe 4-500, then wide open and then some more patches around 8-900, no hits trolling but thankfully found a palm frond which held a ton of small jacks and a pod of mostly small mahi, caught several shorts but also a few decent fish for dinner. Ended up drifting north quite a bit and had a long run back, fun day but no big fish in sight and radio reports were pretty much zippo.

Did you keep a couple of file fish for dinner? I hear they are excellent table fare.

I never did hook one although I tried, I have kept them previously---they are good but not snapper quality by any means. Once they invade its almost impossible to continue fishing in that area.

Got out this morning and decided to run south to stay away from the fleet up in Juno. Found the kings off the dodge wall, we put three in the cooler for the smoker left a handle full of others go.

Default New to me dockside fuel

Just used JDA Fuels out of Ft Lauderdale. Once call was made, Jorge (Previously of another good company) kept in contact as to when the delivery would be made. True to his word they arrived on schedule. Phil (Philadelphia (no relation to previous company)) was running the truck and Jorge was helping.

We ran north today into the mess in Juno. Ran out to 1000 ft with no luck. Ended the day with three bonita.

Saw a 62 lbs Wahoo weighed KDW Classic. Lots of kings, 2-3 big dolphin, bunch of peanuts and couple fat blackfins. Supposedly 200 boats.

Lots of tournament boats out today for sure! We got lots of boneheads, a couple kings, and ran into a really good Grover bite off of the ledge. Biggest was 19" . Man do I love me some panko fried grover!

Fished between 85 and 200 out front. Bottom in the morning, and troll in the afternoon. Bunch of summertimes, three short mutton, small tuna, and some porgys.

Nice day on the water, but busy, with all the tourney boats out.

Had a little bit of a frustrating day Sunday. 0-2 on Kings. One blew up a stinger rig and I pulled the hook on the other. My fault, had the drag too tight. Had some big bites off the bottom but only landed a few smaller fish, some of which we apparently pulled from the jaws of bigger fish. Happened 3 or 4 times. Someone thought they had a big fish, then thought they lost it, then learned they had a small fish minus scales.

Did have a couple of actual good bites but broke a hook on one and pulled hook on another. All in all a fun day but frustrating to lose good bites. Might need to look at how I'm rigging.

Fished between 100 and 150 for about 2 hours caught 2 huge Bonita, switched to dropping picked up a couple yellowtail and one small mutton that we put back. Had a flat line out and hooked up to a king didnt give much of a fight but we got it and thats all that counts. weeds went from crazy to almost nothing in a week.

Fished the KDW Classic and had a winning bull that threw the hook before we could get him to the boat. Figured that was the fish of the day but had a nice cow hit just after that.
18.9 pounds was good enough for 2nd place. 5 good size mahi total in the box.
