The cord is all tore up now and the head of the unit is all marked up with black lines from trying to free up the cord. Thats how tight it was. I couldn't even spin the unit with the remote it was so tight. Didn't want to force the unit and mess anything up.

I'd email Rhodan and run this by them. Something isn't right.

What automatic charging relays are you all using? I'm thinking about adding one.

I'm also planning some trips with the boat where it will be wet slipped in the Bahamas and Keys. How are you securing the TM? I was thinking about a coated bicycle cable setup around the bow rail, but I'm not sure of the best way to attach to the TM.

Going to make a call tomorrow.
Call rhodan talk to Mary or Kyle. Mine was doing it also,so they sent me a new compass and GPS for it takes about 15 minutes to install. No charge by the way.

Awesome, glad to hear that they might already have an idea of the issue. I was praying it wasn't going to be a troubleshooting over the phone type of afternoon.

I just hung the TM on my KW 239, and it went smooth. I was able to mount it so that very little of the plate, head, or lower unit overhangs. I'm not sure if I have the Ram mount in the optimal location yet. I put it in the middle (after the picture was taken) so that I could wrap the coil around the shaft to prevent it from slapping the deck and driving me bat shit.

The boat came pre-wired for a TM from KW, so I hope the electrical part is as easy. Probably not...

They have given me top notch service after the sale for a year and a half and I'm in NC.

You were spot on, they said the compass was out of whack. He mentioned that it being near an anchor can cause that. I forgot all about that. But there really is nothing I can do as my anchor is a thru hull windlass. And as much as I love the trolling motor, the bow would look odd without an anchor lol

Im praying that it was just a bad compass that has nothing to do with its proximity to the anchor.

Is the mounting puck on the boat similar in size as the Minn Kota?

May have to wait and see what I get......I can still get it all set up and swap the plate later.

Quick question:
I'm looking at just short or 20' of wire needed from the battery location to the trolling motor. 36v system. 6 awg looks to be about right. Bigger is always better, but I don't think I'll be able to fit 4 awg in the chase along with the bow light wire in the existing chase. 6 is going to be tight.
Should I run with this? The other route without cutting fiberglass will be about 35'.
Help!

20' or 40' round trip from batt to TM and back to batt?

Short ans: 6 will work. 4 will give you less V drop.

Longer and more interesting ans:

Anchors are so like typewriters, haha.

You'll still need your anchor for snappa, tuna chumming

Mine is going on Saturday. 120lb thrust with 72"shaft. Installing a 4 bank charger (3 banks for trolling motor, one for house battery), I found an aluminum plate at Essenbay Marine to use as a backing plate...(it's really a backing plate for an outrigger handle). Kinda giggity about it.
