I fly there a lot.. Cessna Where are you staying? We usually stay at SeaSpray marina & hotel. They have 4 or 5 "villas" houses that are super! Great restaurant, bar etc. Paul makes a great drink. You HAVE to stop in to "OnDaBeach"... Great drinks, eats too. Brandon is the owner / barman. You also should rent a golf cart. The best way to get around on Elbow. Call JR @ JR's Carts. he's listed on the net. Tell hi you are a friend of CaptGary
Boating? You can go to lots of places. Its a bout a 1 hr ride to Green Turtle. Very nice.
Ill be in HopeTown, end of April / beginning of May.

Stay away from Junior rented 2 last year absolute junk. I have known him for years and he used to keep up with the carts. Now he just doesn't care. I don't get it

Anyone have a good recommendation for golf cart rental ? We will definitely need one on Hope Town and might need one for a day in MarshHarbor or should I get a car for a day trip of sight seeing . This is our first trip to Abaco , but mainly focusing on relaxing 😎 and not rushing anything.

Must see/do. Visit Pete's Pub in Little Harbor, Green Turtle/New Plymouth, Man O War sail shop to get some great bags, dive off the back of Great Giana and then visit Nippers, hit Manjack to feed rays and sharks. So much more. Just explore. Been going out there for over 45 years. A lot has changed but still beautiful.

I went snorkeling at Sandy Cay near Lubbers in the late 1980s
Took my breath away

Had a November trip 2 years ago and didn't get to snorkel there. Is that reef still alive?

Love the Abacos

Looks like the boat tiefs are still around. I hate seeing this.

I'm flying over in a few weeks and renting.

On YouTube there is some recent footage from Sandy Cay, it looks to be in major decline. Lots of dead Elkhorn.

Looking at boat rentals . Need for maybe 3 days and was thinking to use Blue Wave if they have availability. Small 18-22' CC would be ideal for wife and I to explore. Any THT'ers have recommendations for a Hopetown first timer ?

Default 6/17-6/29 trip

Finally headed over there by boat again! 23 SeaCraft Sceptre 300 Suzuki with wife and kids. I have to say, my wife and kids have no idea of the nirvana that awaits! Started going at age 4 by sailboat and have NEVER shaken the feeling of those islands. I have been enjoying the cocky banter for years on here about safety and experience. I have had my butt kicked many times by boat and had to fly back to WPB due to weather back in the Jack Tar DC3 days. It's going to be fun! That blue hole on the south tip of Great Sale sounds killer. I am trying to get other classicseacraft.com guys to at least make a weekend run around 6/17 and have a mini gathering in West End or Grand.

Not to derail, but, in regard to the stolen boats, what if you simply took all the spark plugs out of the boat? Seems easier than chaining the entire boat....thieves have spare spark plugs with them? Just a thought? I own a Sea Hunt, so I'm sure its safe.....

We will be there 5/25-5/29. We just snorkel on the reef, hit petes pub, FireFly for MoTeatoes and the bacon wrapped lobster sunsets. Marsh is OK but never found anything of interest- a lot of nice boats at boat harbor. Go there for lunch one day and get the lobster pizza.
We really go to fish half days and drink the other half of the day- no matter what you do it will be fun.

This is a couple doors down from where we stay sometimes on lubbers- a little unnerving in a place where you are not allowed to arm yourself

You're not the best dancer, but you obviously know what good music is, so you're forgiven...

Wife and I made our first trip there last june...best vacation ever.

Just my opinion, but I'd skip a golf cart rental and rent a boat longer. You can get to most of the interesting places on elbow by boat and exploring the sea of abaco is the reason to go. We stayed in Hopetown and took a shuttle when we wanted to eat outside of town.

We rented a 20ft Albury from island marine and it was perfect for two.

Enjoy!
